Camps Restaurant - Angels Camp
Chef Robert Olivares Camps Restaurant
While staying at WorldMark in Angels Camp, we were gifted a certificate for Camps Restaurant. The staff is friendly and very approachable.
Our Fried Ravioli and Bread with Butter came to the table rather quickly. I truly liked the ravioli but I loved the bread. I am very much a carb lover as much as I am a steak lover. So a warm crusty bread and soft uber spreadable butter is one of life’s greatest pleasures (yes, the bread is an $8 charge).
However my enthusiasm couldn’t continue throughout our meal. Although my Rib-eye Steak was cooked perfectly the way I like it, the vegetables on the side were very drab and overcooked. The spicy Brussels Sprouts had a good flavor. I wish they were slightly spicier, but I enjoyed them nonetheless.
My wife’s Sole Almandine was a tad under seasoned and her vegetables were as drab and overcooked as mine. A quick blanche then saute would have done wonders for the sole. In contrast, the mashed potatoes she ordered on the side were perfect.
For dessert, we ordered the Creme Brûlée.
This was the perfect way to end our meal here. The creme brûlée was creamy and had the perfect amount of sweetness.
