Jonathan Lee Oh G Burger is a cozy place tucked on A Street in Hayward. With a wide seating area and bright, red, white and blue walls, it brings a more retro atmosphere, helped by the selection of 80s, 90s and 00s music. Aesthetically, its somewhere between an old-school diner and a cafeteria, and I greatly appreciate that.
During my visit, the owner made sure to meet my needs in a timely and respectful manner. Ice for my drink was available on request, as well as water (and water cups). I noted that the owner was also very close with his regulars, but also willing to give a customer space if he felt that they wanted to be alone. It seems that management is in good hands.
On this first visit, I ordered the Hayward Burger combo. To be honest, I didnt take a closer look at the menu and just picked on the spot - almost none of the ingredients in the burger itself were anything I would have normally had. Based on its individual ingredients, I should have hated what I ordered... but I didnt! The combination of flavors made what would have been an unpleasant experience in lesser hands, a pleasantly surprising one. Even if I dont know whether or not I will order another Hayward Burger, its certainly changed my opinion on bell peppers for the future. For that, I have to give a 5 star rating for the food - at any other place, I think I would have hated it.
Ill definitely be coming back in the future!
