Las Islitas Grill - (Near Salinas, CA)

5 /5 Sara Hellstrom: Hidden gem next to the Laurel Inn, were so glad we checked it out! Not sure what some of the older reviews were about, but we had excellent service - they were quick, kind, and anticipatory of our needs (to go boxes and check timing). The food exceeded expectations from the delicate broth and tender crab and fish in the 7 Mares soup to the deliciously garlicky camarones platillo and refreshing aquachile. Even the chips and salsa were yummy with assorted hot sauces at the table for more kick. We didnt stay for karaoke, but right around 7pm, the restaurant got a little pep in its step setting up for a musical Saturday night. Well definitely come back next time were in the area!

1 /5 Corey Bellfaust: The best part of living in Salinas is all the amazing Mexican Restaurants. There is no shortage of excellent Mexican food here. That being said, dont ignore your customers. One other person sitting at the bar, and maybe 5 people sitting at booths. I really wanted to try the food here, but the one thing I cant stand is being ignored. Maybe I was on the wrong side of the tracks, maybe I wasnt Mexican enough, maybe my broken Spanish sucked. Whatever the issue was, I will never be going here again and I will make sure to tell everyone not to go here. There are plenty of other restaurants in Salinas that are friendly and are happy to take my money.

4 /5 Jorge Hernandez: Food was really good. Service was lacking. Will visit again to see if service has improved. Could be that is a brand new restaurant.

3 /5 Sharon Powers: It was late and since my husband and I hadnt had dinner, yet, we decided to try this little taqueria, close to our hotel. When we went in, I almost immediately left; the sound was so loud, it was hurting my ears. Karaoke night. But I was hungry. We ordered, got our drinks and, soon had chips and salsa--the best thing there. I got nachos, my husband got carne asada. The food was adequate, not great. Everything needed salt. The rice was sub par compared to other Mexican restaurants. The decor was ocean themed, and appeared fairly clean throughout. I dont know about the restroom, because I didnt use their facilities. Handicapped persons could probably be accommodated, and handicapped parking was available, outside. Prices were reasonable. Even so, I doubt I would come back here, again.
