5 /5 Aaron Linsdau Thriller Author: I’ve been coming to the Broiler in Oceanside Harbor for quite a few years. I’ve consistently enjoyed their beer selection, the staff, and the food. One of my buddies and I meet here pretty regularly and have done so over the years. It’s a unique location because it allows a view of the harbor, the sea lions, and people — perfect for people-watching.
As a thriller author, I appreciate the variety of landscapes and the people-watching opportunities to get ideas for my next novel. My favorite is the Baja fish tacos. They are by far one of the best. My buddy usually ends up getting sliders, which are also an excellent choice. Being able to order off the happy hour menu always helps with the credit card damage.
There are four or five dining areas. The patio in the very front when you walk in is a little more secluded and private, with a nice view of the boats. In the back, where my buddy and I usually sit, is a really big lanai patio with a great view of the harbor. Inside, there’s a smaller area to the right when you enter where a few people sit. In the main area, there’s quite a sizable dining space. And in the bar, there are high-top style tables as well as standard booth-type tables. Quite a variety. We’ve eaten inside several times when the weather is inclement.
Even though San Diego is all about the beach and the ocean, there aren’t that many places to actually sit and enjoy the waterfront. This is definitely a place where my thriller characters would come to eat. The Oceanside Broiler is definitely one of them. Recommended.
