4 /5 Ray Santiago: The alpine mountain country of Mammoth Lakes and Mexican cuisine isnt something that easily rolls off your tongue, and in fact, its almost an awkward mismatch. But, who cares?
On an overnight stop at Mammoth Lakes, I found this gem of a place in town. I wasnt that hungry, but I just needed to top off my tank and I ordered the fish taco here. Man, that hit the spot, it was delicious. My only criticism of this place is that the fish content was stingy.
Given that, I ordered another taco, this time carnitas and that was also delicious. Again, their portions are small, but maybe because I am out of San Francisco where Mexican joints are plentiful, perhaps my expectations are different?
Bottom line is, the food was excellent even if it lacks in generosity.
