3 /5 Aaron Johnson: I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience given how often my family and I used to dine here. For a long time, we visited this restaurant twice a week despite the higher prices. A typical dinner for three, including two drinks (a beer and a bourbon), was consistently over $100.
Unfortunately, when the restaurant began charging for chips and salsa, it changed the experience entirely. What was once a welcoming staple now felt nickel-and-dimed, and it seems many other regulars felt the same way.
As a result, we went from being loyal, twice-weekly customers to not returning for more than six months. When I finally did come back—on the opening night of Monday Night Football (Raiders vs. Chargers)—there were six empty seats at the bar and the rest of the restaurant was nearly vacant.
While I cannot say with certainty that the decision to charge for chips and salsa alone caused this decline, for an already expensive Mexican restaurant in a city full of excellent alternatives, it may have been the small but significant detail that drove customers away.
Better food / better prices at Los Dos Hermans, Vallarta , or El Taquito 1 or 2. (Just to mention a few off the top of my head)
