Don Jose Mexican Restaurant - (Near Sebring, FL)

5 /5 Sandra Straesser: We stopped at Don Joses for lunch today. It was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly. The beans were fresh and delicious! I had the chicken encillada with green sauce and cheese! Carlos, our waiter was outstanding! Our hostess accommodated our wish to sit by the window overlooking the lake. The flan was perfect with a Carmel sauce! What a great dining experience!

5 /5 Cathy Frels: Our first time here and definitely not our last! The food was amazing, our waiter was stopping by a couple times to make sure we didn’t need anything. Couldn’t ask for a better meal. I would highly recommend this place. It was a chilly night so ate inside but can’t wait to go back and sit outside on their patio overlooking the lake. I had the chicken enchiladas and very very good, seasoned chicken with a red sauce served with beans and rice. I definitely walked or should I say “waddled” lol…out the door, excellent food and service. There was four of us and we all extremely enjoyed our meal!

5 /5 dave I: 12/17 - dinner with my friend. I had the Chile Rellenos, they were good. 11/24 - Solo dinner at the bar. Salmon Serrano and fried ice cream for dessert. 7/14 - dinner with the gang! So much fun. I had the Shrimp Guadalajara, really good and a nice portion. I broke from my traditional drinks and had a "Maria Maria" it was nice. My friend had a Dragon fruit margarita - looked good! May have to try that next... 6/7 - Shrimp Serrano - very good, love the peppers and mushrooms. 5/27 - Salmon Veracruz - wow! Really nice dish and piece of fish. I will get this again. 5/5/25 Cinco! It was the busiest Ive ever seen this place, lol. But the service, food and speed of service was still great! I had the shrimp fajitas - really good but Im not a fan of the tails still on the shrimp when served for this type of dish. 9/4 back for dinner. We sat outside in the screen room, so nice. I had the Chicken San Antonio, it was good. 5/26 i had the ceviche, different than normal ceviche but its really good, more salad like, love the avocado, plenty of shrimp and fish in there. 5/22 tamales 4/21 back for shrimp arceo - it was good! 2/21 back at the bar for dinner. I tried the chicken Arizona and it was marvelous! Definitely recommend. Also i got to try the chicken soup, now normally i would not order this at a Mexican restaurant, i will say I was completely surprised and amazed how good it was! So good, i took it home! 2/16 dinner @ the bar. I tried the Shrimp Enchiladas at the recommended of the bartender, it was another really great dish! This place is amazing, the Chefs really care about the art of food. So consistently good over the last 15+ years Ive been eating here. Service is always good. 2/10 @ the bar for dinner. I tried the Shrimp Salsa Verde and it was really good! Along with 2:1 Margaritas and the best chips & salsa, it was a great night. 2/7/24 @ the bar. Late snack and 2:1 marg! I got the chicken quesadilla. Now i was so hungry that i forgot to take the photo before eating... But Ill say, they were very good & i would get them again. A perfect amount for something to eat late night and with drinks. 10/25 back at the bar for a late dinner -great food again. Nice to see Turn 2 beer available here. 6/4 dinner w/my friend. I had the Chicken Guadalajara, it was nice and flavorful. My friend had the shrimp Don Jose and loved it. 2:1 Margs in the bar area is nice. Service was good too. 5/4 back for dinner with my friend. I had Shrimp Don Jose, really good! Love the mushrooms and good flavors. 6 nice sized shrimp.(pic) 5/1 sat at the bar, chicken tamales and a house Marg. Perfect 8:50pm meal ;) 3/8/22 another great meal, I had the chicken tamales- very good. Ive dined here several times over the years, while visiting my parents. Always good food and good service!
