5 /5 Hazel Velasquez: First time in Kissimmee, Florida, en route to the Everglades — the adventure we had planned for the day — but before diving into the wetlands, we made a spontaneous stop for breakfast/brunch and landed at Matador Tacos and Tapas Bar. Let me just say: this was one of the best decisions we made on the trip.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine hospitality and a cozy yet modern atmosphere. The bar area is adorable, with rustic wood touches, hanging lights, and a vibe that makes you want to sit and sip something refreshing — even if it’s only 10 a.m.
The food? Incredible. Bursting with flavor, made from fresh ingredients, and clearly crafted with love. I ordered a Latin-style breakfast dish that tasted like something straight from abuela’s kitchen. My travel partner tried their breakfast tacos and couldn’t stop raving about them. Every bite was comforting, flavorful, and satisfying.
One of the staff mentioned they have live music on the weekends, and I could just imagine how magical the place must feel in the evening. It’s the kind of spot where locals gather and travelers feel lucky to discover.
Also worth noting — plenty of parking, clean restrooms, fast service, and family-friendly. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or a place to linger, Matador checks all the boxes.
If you’re traveling through Central Florida, especially on your way to the Everglades, Disney, or any of the nearby parks, don’t skip Matador. It’s the kind of local spot you wish you had back home.
I can’t wait to return — and next time, I’m staying for dinner and drinks under the weekend lights.
