4 /5 Fernando Martinez: Visiting in the area and decided to drop in to the Metro diner for breakfast. Overall, a big spacious and very welcoming restaurant. Ample seating, small tables, large tables, even seats at a counter. As you approach, the building has a dedicated door for to-go orders as well as the main entrance into the dining area.
Fantastic menu with lots of both classic and progressive dishes. Nice holiday menu with unusual platters. One example is the country fried turkey slices, much like you would find country fried steak, served with gravy as a breakfast dish. The pictures don’t do it justice.
Our server Deria was attentive and very professional. She took our order flawlessly,l. Deria even went up to the kitchen to convey my special request that my right toast come out hot. I made it a point of telling the server that I like my toast hot so that the butter will melt on it. The only negative from this whole visit was the lack of attention by the kitchen staff to that simple request. I sat right next to the kitchen and watched and heard Deria tell the kitchen to make sure to put the toast out hot as soon as it was toasted ahead of the breakfast. The kitchen did no such thing. The toast arrived cold, and was a true disappointment. The great organizations are defined by the quality of details in what they do. It is the little customer requests that define excellence. In disregard Metro diner failed.
The meals we ordered were fabulous. Biscuits and gravy were sensational, the biscuits were nicely cooked. The meat lovers omelette was also fantastic. The hashbrowns were grilled crispy just like we asked. The iced tea was great and the coffee freshly brewed and very delicious.
This is definitely a place worth coming to, especially if you’re not in need or desire any sort of special attention to your food preparation. In their case, special orders, do upset them.
