The Reef - (Near St. Augustine, FL)

5 /5 Ruud Noordzij: So good! Our friend in Saint Augustine knew about this place and took us there after our arrival in town. In short, the shrimp and grits are to die for! That sauce is unmatched, and the shrimp is nice. Sadly, the grouper and salmon were sold out so we opted for the Caribbean Grill. Great choice as the fish was flaky, nicely prepared and very fresh. Mussels as a starter, very nice as well. Nice attentive service (thanks Baylie) and the fact that this restaurant is coastal is a great plus.... unfortunately, we were over for a rather late dinner but anyone visiting during the summer should have great ocean views. Highly recommended.

5 /5 Kristina Totoraitis: Food: 10/10 View: 10/10 Service: 10/10 The food here is delicious! I live in Chicago and came down for my moms birthday that we celebrated here. Service was amazing from the start, they let us sit 30min earlier than our reservation & also gave us the best spot view wise. Jenifer was our waitress and she was so lovely and very helpful. I got the short rib and subbed the mashed potatoes for risotto- best dish I’ve ever had and I’ve had plenty of short rib back home, nothing compares. The risotto was cooked perfectly and creamy with the perfect amount of flavor. The short rib melted in my mouth and had the most tasty glaze on top. My dad got the triple tail fish grilled and my mom got the grouper. They absolutely loved their dish and said it’s the best they’ve had in Florida (they live in palm coast). For dessert they gave my mom the option to pick from the menu on the house since it was her birthday and they made the plate all nice for her which was super sweet. All I know is my mom had the absolute best time and left with the biggest smile and we absolutely loved this place and will definitely come back!!!

5 /5 Bumblebee: Incredible location facing east on the water, beautiful views. Very accommodating staff allowed me to eat even though not really open. Awesome selection of sea and land foods. Very tasty. I had the pretzel crusted chicken salad, delicious. Very clean and nice interior. Ate again, 12/28, came all the way from Phoenix. Abby was our server and did a really great job. We both had the buttermilk chicken, fried chicken breast, grilled Brussel sprouts, and Gouda cheese macaroni-this has become a top three on my favorite meals, really tasty and plenty of food. Crème brûlée and bread pudding for dessert, really great stuff. With dessert and no drinks, with generous tip, for two was 100.00, and worth it. Great location right on the Atlantic Ocean for great views and crashing waves, a wonderful environment.

4 /5 Borderlessfoodie: I chose this spot for lunch mainly for its close-up ocean view, and it did not disappoint. We ordered the avocado egg on an English muffin, fried chicken with waffles, and fish and chips. The dishes were decent overall, though the batter-fried fish was a bit oily—likely due to the oil temperature. Service was friendly, and live music played throughout our meal, adding to the laid-back atmosphere. Overall, a pleasant experience with unbeatable views.

5 /5 Dariusz Warzocha: I arrived to find every outdoor table occupied, which in lesser establishments would signal defeat. Not here. The hostess and the bartender kept a quiet watch, and the moment a seat opened by the ocean, I was escorted outside. Efficient, attentive, no theatrics, just competence. Service is where empires rise or fall. Jack, tending bar and my table, was equal parts craftsman and confidant. He pours a proper drink, speaks when conversation is welcome, and checks in with the regularity of a well-kept watch, never intrusive, always precise. The spinach artichoke appetizer was hot and honest, the baked grouper clean, delicate, and perfectly judged, the vanilla bourbon infused dessert a civilized indulgence that knows when to stop. Compliments to the chef, and to the person who keeps this place immaculate. It is very, very clean. Parking can be a skirmish during peak hours, understandable given the target. The Reef on the A1A earns the attention. I will return whenever I am in the area. Well worth it. Could not recommend it more. Management, big props to Jack.
