5 /5 David Martinez: I would like to strongly recommend everyone in Calhoun and in neighboring areas to stop what they are doing or eating, and head on over to El Cubano Food Truck Restaurant for a bite.
I was floored by the authentic tastes, incredible service, and warm ambience. From the recommendation of a strawberry matcha latte to the ordering of some maduros (sweet plantains), the entire meal was a delight from start to finish. It was so good I went back for a second time within 24 hours of my first visit to try other things on their menu.
Their ‘make your own bowl’ option is phenomenal (pick a protein, a rice base, black beans, and 3 additional toppings) and is where I started. On my second trip, I decided to go for the Miami-style pork steak con arroz morro y tostones and it was simply delightful. Their menu changes daily, and to my surprise they also do a buffet style lunch on several days of the week. I was pleasantly surprised that they had hamburger, hot dog, and a diverse sandwich section too. And did I mention their cafe options are delectable too? Try a large maple-glazed latte on a cold day.
For those interested in trying Cuban food, you cannot go wrong with the meat options here. And if you are vegan, they have a great limited menu of options for you as well. Lastly, if you are struggling to pick between yuca fries and the salchipapas, you can always ask the staff for their recommendations- they will not steer you wrong. Overall, I hope this place is seen as a staple in Calhoun for years to come.
