5 /5 Billy Hennessey: Billy’s Let’s Eat Review of FOJ on December 2nd, 2025
After stuffing my face on Thanksgiving and the leftovers that followed, I wanted something for lunch that wasnt going to make me feel grossly over stuffed. I wanted a salad! FOJ has been on my radar for a while now because they always post whimsical combinations of food!
The FOJ eatery has a variety of Sandwiches, Salads, Burgers and some daily and nightly features on their menu.
The highest price menu item I saw was only $20 with the average meal item being between $14 and $16.
Fun Fact: FOJ stands for Fountain Of Juice and its owned by the daughter of the woman who founded the famous Macon fine dining restaurant, Natalias.
Vibe: This is giving me a fast paced New York City Deli vibe. Walk up counter, bar seating and table service is all available. Its one of those busy places where the servers are constantly walking in a hurry carrying no less than 6 plates at a time. Its kinda like watching the ballet for foodies.
So, lets eat!
What I Ordered:
Arties Cobb Salad = $16
Egg, Avocado, Corn, Bacon, Tomato & Len Bergs Bleu Cheese Dressing.
All the veggies were fresh, crisp and cut to perfect size so you wont even need a knife! Absolutely no complaints whatsoever… but…. I want to take a moment to talk about the dressing. I didn’t know who Len Berg was. Thank goodness for Google and an incredibly knowledgeable General Manager. I got educated today!
Len Bergs was a well-known restaurant in downtown Macon, Georgia, that operated from 1908 to 2005 and was an absolute icon in Downtown Macon for nearly a century.
The dressing is apparently an Award Winning concoction and it was smart of FOJ to adopt it for its Cobb Salad.
I am disappointed that this step back in time isnt as well known, or maybe it is and I just didnt know about it. In order to understand the Macon Food scene today, we have to know where it got started. And here we are, a hundred years later and FOJ found an absolutely brilliant way to bring something amazing from the past and put it together with a modern flare. I just love it. I absolutely love it.
Summing It Up: FOJ has been open for 17 years and I can see why. High quality ingredients, an entire staff who cares and an amazing kitchen crew who doesnt stand still but doesnt skimp on quality.
This is a great place to go if you’re in the mood for a creative twist on your favorite classics.
