Ben Bredeson Summary: Fantastic food, warm service, and owners who genuinely care. Dougās delivered an incredible meal for my family when we needed it most, and itās become one of my favorite places to eat.
Details: I canāt say enough good things about Dougās. Iāve eaten here plenty of timesāusually a meat-and-threeāand itās always been delicious with the kind of friendly service that makes you feel like a regular, even if itās your first time walking through the door. The new owners are doing a wonderful job keeping Dougās exactly what itās always been: a true community spot that cares about the people it feeds.
This Thanksgiving, though, they went above and beyond. One of the owners, Pam, worked with me on a small catering order for the day after the holiday. My father was just diagnosed with a terminal illness and hasnāt felt up to leaving the house. She helped me put together a Thanksgiving meal so my parents, my wife, and I could still share the holiday with him at home.
The food was incredibleāfresh, flavorful, and comfort-food in the truest, most heartfelt way. The ham and the squash casserole were standouts, the kind of dishes that taste like someoneās grandmother made them with real care. It meant more than I can say.
Dougās is a fantastic place to eat, but itās also the kind of place that reminds you what a local restaurant can be: good folks serving good food and taking care of their neighbors. Iām grateful for them.
