3 /5 Mike Parker: Was excited that there was a new breakfast option in town. Issues I initially chalked up to being a new restaurant and growing pains are not getting better.
First off the food. Quality has been pretty decent, but as others have mentioned the portion sizes are inconsistent as could be. The first time in my breakfast was huge and I had leftovers. The next time I ordered that same meal it was a little over half the size. Ive never seen a "dollop of grits", but there it was. They also frequently forget items, as if they dont know their menu and dont review the order when serving. Best of luck getting that biscuit and gravy or toast you ordered. And if you order to go, order double. As seen on the plincludes pic, it aint a big breakfast (was when I last ordered the same exact thing for dining in).
When it comes to service, this is the biggest strike. They just seem extremely disorganized as is nobody knows their position or what to do next. Based on the layout, they need a dedicated host/hostess and to go order position. Having servers break off to seat and ring up, then go to the kitchen, then back to tables is organizational suicide. If there has been a manager on duty, it is never apparent because nothing is being managed. This isnt to say there arent good ataff. Weve always had pleasant interactions and didnt feel ignored, but because of the disorganization it was easy to tell which staff were motivated with good work ethic, and who was there to just collect a check.
Finally, the atmosphere is fine. It is a quintessential Huddle House with the modernized diner vibe. It has always been clean and approachable.
I hope that management is able to get a handle on the staff tasking and improve the overall service because I think all the other issues stem from that. If they continue on this path though, the customers will leave and this will just be one more failed business in Pembroke.
