3 /5 Lucas Preiss: This place felt very much like family sit down restaurant. If Dominick Toretto could have a place for La Familia get together, this would probably be it. Very friendly and attentive staff. I mean hey, its been in business for 15 years, so I think its something that you should support.
Im giving this restaurant a lower rating for one main reason. The food. This was nothing to write home about. I ordered a combo meal - beef burrito, beef enchilada, and beef taco (would have went with the tamal, but they were out in the time that I ordered. My wife got the shrimp fajita.
They brought out the chips and salsa. The chips tasted like theyve been there for a while. Freshly heated, but you could still feel the stale remnants in there. The salsa was also just ok. Tasted partly home made, but not, if you know what I mean.
When the entree came out, the crunchy taco shell was stale and the bottom was soggy. My wifes entree came shortly after. Sorry to say but the shrimps looked like cocktail shrimp that had been cooked one more time with seasoning. Very over cooked. I also ordered rice and beans, which when they came out, the beans were to be expected, but the rice had only enough flavor to taste that it wasnt plain rice (peas, carrots, corn added as well). The only thing that saved the day was the guacamole salad, salsa, and sour cream to add to the shrimp fajitas.
During the whole experience, our waiter was prompt, the store manager was friendly, and besides the food, the experience was nice.
Overall, I would go back to support the business because its good people. But the chef needs some improvement.
