1 /5 Keith Reeves: This is my honest review of Lees Famous Recipe Chicken in Eastman Georgia on my visit date of 8-28-2025 your opinion may differ from mine.
This was my first visit since their grand opening a few months ago.
I visited at lunchtime and was extremely disappointed in the quality and quantity of the food that they served me and my two guests that accompanied me. The fried chicken tasted like it was reheated from the night before or had been sitting under a heat lamp for an extended period of time. The chicken was dried out and had a rubbery texture to it. There is nothing better than the taste of freshly fried chicken that has just come from the cooker. Believe me when I say that this chicken was not fresh at all. When fried chicken is reheated or been sitting for a while, the texture and taste completely changes. They should be ashamed for serving chicken of this poor quality, especially only about 45 minutes after opening. The first fried chicken of the day should be hot, fresh, and delicious. This chicken should have been thrown out or served as scrap feed for hogs!
The macaroni and cheese tasted like it had been warmed over with water added to it to soften it up. I stirred it up and what looked like water separated from it on my plate.
The potato wedges were cut so thin that they should have been renamed potato slices. The potato skin was almost as thick as the actual potato wedges.
I ordered the 3 piece dark with mac- n- cheese and potato wedges. The 3 pieces of chicken served to me today combined were smaller than one thigh served during their grand opening period. The potato wedges served were a joke. I dont know what is going on at this Lees Chicken. Maybe they decided that they could save money by serving extremely small chicken legs and thighs. Maybe they decided that they could save money by reheating left over chicken. Maybe they decided to cut back on the potato wedges size. The wedges served to us today
were cut into several smaller pieces compared to the potato wedges that were served during their grand opening period. I dont know if this is what they did or not but my mouth knows the difference between fresh and old fried chicken. With the cost of eating out rising, places that serve the quality of food that they served us today may not go out of business, but they will definitely lose business because of it.
I dont think you will see the road blocked off in front of this restaurant like it was during their grand opening very much anymore, serving the poor quality and quantity of food that we received. I can better spend almost $34 dollars somewhere else.
I dont think the Chick-fil-A mobile trailer parked at the hospital will be forced to leave anytime soon.
I will say that the employees were great and that the unsweetened tea was very good.
I waited till the newness of this place wore off to review this Lees Chicken. They have quickly gone from 5 stars during their grand opening period to 1 star today, in my opinion in a very short period of time. Why does it seem as if every new restaurant that opens up in the Dublin, Eastman and Cochran Georgia area always seem to rapidly deteriorate as far as the service and quality of food is concerned.
