Smokey J’s BBQ - (Near Blackshear, GA)

Jose Velasquez On our way home we discovered this resturaunt. By far one of the best BBQ I have had in a long time. This place is now our family pit stop every time go back home. The ribs fall of the bone and the smoked chicken is AMAZING!!!

LFBernard I saw this place on another reviewer’s page and had to try it. I wasn’t impressed. About 90% of the food is greasy or fried. Taste was fine but not for me. Need healthier options.

Larry Reeves I found Rutledge Cafe quite by accident from checking and studying Google Maps. It’s a simple pleasure of mine: finding out of the way places to eat on the backroads of Georgia. I noticed this place and from street view I figured it was just my kind of place. Not fancy, just a promise of good food. My buddy and I went on motorcycles the first time and I’m here to tell you we were not disappointed. We both had catfish with sides of Cole slaw, fried green tomatoes, hush puppies and French fries. There are other sides but this is what we settled on. It was a feast beyond belief. The absolute best catfish I’ve ever eaten and the sides were top notch. Their menu has other great meals including meat loaf, chicken livers and fried chicken. The portions were big and the price was very reasonable and the service was excellent. As good as all this was it came in second to the people and staff that run this cafe. They make you feel like you’ve walked in the back door at your grand mommas house just in time for dinner. They are all smiles, chatty and make you feel like they’ve know you since you were born. Please, give this place and the people who work here a try. You won’t be disappointed either and you’ll become just like me…….. a regular customer at Rutledge Cafe.

Reid Swanson This is classy establishment in Rossville, especially for a business lunch. Very inviting environment, both inside and out. Food is so good!! Service was excellent, but never overbearing. Would definitely go here again.

Steven Chandler This place is from another time in the old south when you didn’t have commercialized fast food. You come in to the screend-in dining area, order your food from a little window, sit and chat or listen to the conversation of the other folks in there. It might be 30 minutes or so, get your drink ahead of time and sit and relax. This place is cool. The burger was great, so were the fries, even the Coke tasted better. We chatted and watch the people come in. Some of the people called in and were picking up, others waited, some ate there some got it to go. If you drive by and thought about it, stop thinking and just do it. They make your food to order, no heat lamps, and they are busy, so be prepared to sit a while and take it all in. These type of places are few and far between and should be a cherished. Again, this is not fast food. This is the good old south the way it used to be and I am so happy we found it again. The fellow next to me recommended the chili burger, so I’m doing that next! We spent around 20 bucks for two Chief Burger plates and two large drinks. You can’t beat that.

Matt McKinley Amazing food and service! AND reasonable prices. Right across from the Flying J so we drivers have a great place for a dinner break or during a reset even! Thanks Jorge! Had great service and always had a smile when he was talking to any customer I saw! (And hey……. Adorably cute too what can I say ha). Keep up the good work.
