5 /5 Joseph Sheffield: Came back today for the fried catfish, fried haddock, collard greens, cabbages, Okra.
Glad my friend told me about this new place. He said the ribs and fish were great and they definitely were.
CatFish-10/10 fresh, crispy, good price/portion. The cabbage and greens were delicious 10/10. No meat in them and very flavorful, we love it, could’ve ordered a pan of greens and cabbages.
Ribs- 10/10 great price and portion. They were easily 18+ bones & tips in that box. Four people ate off of it. Wasn’t heavily seasoned like the young folks do but more traditional like an Auntie or grandparent. I like that they cut them. I put my sauce on the side. Good & thin country style bbq sauce. Not smoked but old school grill taste.
At $37 for the whole slab I was hesitant, but it was fair and exceptional value.
Wings- 10/10 lemon pepper hot can be a bit salty but they were perfect size, crunch, freshness. At $15 being that they are so small they should come with some fries.
Potato Salad- taste good but too wet. I’d reduce the creaminess and let those potatoes shine.
Coleslaw- good taste & texture but has sweet relish in it that is a bit overpowering. We typically put sweet relish in the potato salad & deviled eggs instead.
Peach Cobbler-great look and it had good crust but it was way too sweet. I would cut back on the sugar!
Steak Hoagie- ordered it without cheese. Probably taste better to you with cheese. Good soft bread I would like for it to come with more grilled onions and peppers. Just meat & bread.
Steve’s Fries-please update the menu to say that it comes with cheese on it. I’m Lactose intolerant. Saddened that I Didn’t see any beef sausage, jalapeños, banana peppers or onions, The sauce taste like a thinned gold bbq sauce. At $15 (should be $12 even with the toppings) I need all them toppings.
Green beans-really good for canned beans-would prefer fresh.
$5 hamburger. Great price/value. Decent frozen patty could be smoked to add more flavor. Good thick bread. I’d upgrade that patty, lettuce, tomato, pickle with fries on a toasted bun and charge $13 instead.
Great customer service inside and over the phone. Legit quality business. I imagine this place will be swamped once everybody understands the new gem we have. Ordering is at the entrance and not conducive for a long line. The restaurant aesthetic is on the basic side and I feel with all the incoming money they’ll be able to make continuous improvements to the point where they may even fully redecorate/renovate or relocate. Highly recommend and plan on coming back.
