Steves Steak & Seafood -Food CA (Near Macon)

5 /5 S C: I wont trash this business with a 3 or 4 star overall rating but i want to point out a few things. Someone in another review pointed out it seems odd to name a place a steakhouse and have only one steak (ribeye). My food came out quickly and the server was very nice. The lady at the hostess stand didnt seem rude but she didnt have much spark. Someone else gave them a really bad review based mostly on the hostess. Its not possible for me to know if it was the same one but I have a feeling it might have been. She wasnt very personable and didnt give off a very welcoming vibe. The grilled buffalo shrimp were cooked perfectly as was the fried shrimp I ordered along with my ribeye. The steak seemed to be of poor quality. It was tough and had a large section of gristle that I think should have been trimmed off. I would recommend anything seafood from this place but wouldnt suggest the steak.

2 /5 Burch Sue: This was my second visit to this place. I tried the fish, this time, because I had such a horrible experience with the burger (smoke flavoring or lighter fluid, not sure which, caused nausea and vomiting for several hours after dining) the last time Id been here. I was hoping to have better reviews to offer on them. Alas, thats not the case. My fries werent completely cooked and my fish was undercooked (still pinkish in the thickest part). They did cook another filet for me but, by the time it came out, Id lost my appetite and barely touched it. I didnt bother eating the fries. I got a "to go" box and ate the fish the next day (not bad for leftovers) but the fries went in the garbage. Ill give the server credit, she didnt miss a beat in noticing there was an issue and trying to correct it. She had a great personality. I wish Id thought to get her name. I would recommend her. Ive never been a fan of "booth seating" where you can seat 2 or 3 people per side...because somebody is going to have to disturb the whole table if the need to step away and some poor soul isnt going to be able to relax because theyre being asked to get up and let someone out. There werent any table/chair seats available when we arrived so, I order to get seated expeditiously, we settled for one of their many booth seats.

5 /5 Kristina: Simple, clean, good. This is a small venue but the food is delicious. I had grilled shrimp with grilled veggies of squash and zucchini, and everything was cooked perfectly with a crisp bite, not drenched in oil or grease like Ive had elsewhere. The salad is just lettuce, a sliced tomato, and a red onion slice, with a tablespoon of dressing on the side, but thats okay, its all I needed. The hush puppies were small and dense with a browned crust. Ive seen other reviews so Ill be back to try their steak.

4 /5 Launa Williams: The parking lot is very small and hard to get into and out of. The shrimp was good. The catfish filet was tough and had no taste or seasoning.
