Something Special Bar & Lounge - Conyers

Rating: 4.2 /5
Ashanti Hardison I came here for dinner to celebrate my birthday with a friend and it is truly SOMETHING SPECIAL!!! The food is amazing, drinks amazing, decor is so nice and everyone was so attentive. I even got a chance to meet the wonderful couple that owns the place. I am so glad they chose to bring their classy upcale restaurant to this area because we needed it! The bang-bang shrimp was so good! I ordered a 2nd one! The lamp chops were tender and juicy, mash potatoes and greens yummy!!! And last but not least. . my server Kayla was AWESOME!!! I came back a month or so later with another friend and now he loves this place too! This place has a DJ with a dance floor area on one side but if the music is too loud, there is a 2nd side with another bar that is also quiet, they thought of everything ! Thank you for bringing Something Special to Conyers!!!

Biancas Restaurant - Albany

Rating: 4.4 /5
Daniel Clawson We had dinner at Bianca’s this past Saturday and it was simply said, a well oiled machine of professionalism and well crafted taste sensations. My girlfriend had been here before with her work, they take clients here when in town, but this was my first time here. After traveling to Albany, GA for nearly a year now my only complaint is not coming to Bianca’s sooner. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel personally to many large metropolitan areas and have eaten at restaurants that are known to be destinations of their own. I believe Bianca’s is on its way to becoming that sort of fine dining establishment. The decor is modern, elegant, and clean. The lighting is moody, but deliberate. They dim the house lights so much that even though the neighboring tables are relatively close together, they fade into dark obscurity because your primary light is a nice little lamp on your table. This does make taking photos a little more dramatic than I would normally go for in my lighting choices, but it helps keep your focus on those in your party than on everyone in your vicinity. I do have to make special mention of the wait staff. Our waiter, Johan, was a delight and charming to interact with, but they also had people to make sure drinks stayed full, plates being taken away, bread refilled. Furthermore when the table next to us accidentally knocked over a wine glass, three people swooped in immediately to clean up the mess before any semblance of disruption could be felt. They train their staff well and it shows. For those who have been there, I feel like this is aspiring to be at the level of service they have at Bern’s Steakhouse in Tampa, FL. I was thoroughly impressed. Everything we ordered was delicious, but I do have a few favorites I want to mention. For starters, the complimentary bread with a herb and garlic infused olive oil was truly memorable. The bread was crusty and nicely toasted, but had a texture almost like they used a cake flour or something. It had such a fine granular mouth feel that it was almost like chewy, pillowy, croutons. It’s hard to explain, but excellent and thankfully they happily refill the bread upon request… and we did which is unusual for me because I don’t normally like to fill up on the bread to make sure I have room for the meal. For my entree I ordered the Spaghetti Al Coccio Con Fritti Di Mari and the sauce was remarkably flavorful and well developed. The portion of seafood was generous enough to fill even the most hungry patron. My girlfriend had the 16 oz Linz (sp?) ribeye from the chef’s menu that day. It was cooked in a caste iron skillet and thus had a bit more gradation in temp than I would like to see at that price point, but overall came out a solid medium as ordered. I also wish the seared crust was a little more defined, but I am being a little nitpicky. It was an excellent steak. My favorite bite of the evening was the dessert. I normally go for anything chocolate, but I saw the Tortino and it stood out to us as something worth trying. It is described as a sponge cake filled with vanilla gelato, topped with fresh berries and a vanilla cream glaze. This description doesn’t say that the gelato is the best I’ve had outside of Italy and the thick crust on the bottom of the sponge cake was amazing while having a dense and chewy consistency that was scrumptious while still being moist barely describes the elation that came out of this tasty morsel. I would come back just for the Tortino. All things considered, if you’re in Albany, GA and have a reason for a nice sit down fine dining experience, put this at the top of your list.

Applebees Grill + Bar - Dawsonville

Rating: 4.2 /5
Rosey Posey Best dining out experience in a very long time! I have been to other Applebees locations in years past but, this is the first time I have been to the Dawsonville location. Clista served us, and she was very friendly and professional. Starting from the top I immediately noticed it was QUIET. No crazy loud music blasting, no wall to wall television situation either. There were TVs more near the bar, but I FULLY appreciate that there was plenty of space to dine in peace with no tv in my line of vision. I completely despise going out and see the restaurant with TVs covering every inch of available wall space, right along with loud and unsettling music blasting at ear piercing decibels. Its TOO MUCH! It is very unnerving and does not promote any sense of peace or calm. That alone is enough to drive me away. So, none of that was going on in this Applebees. I appreciate that A LOT! The place seemed clean except a spot where it looked like a small corner table was being used to store condiments and a dustpan. That was a bit unsightly but also would be my only complaint. We were greeted and our order taken promptly. We went with the white queso and chips for the appetizer which was delicious. Our appetizer was a bit late coming out, and we didnt complain but they comped it anyway with out our asking or anything. That was a nice gesture. It shows me they do care about their customers and will do the right thing independently. For my meal I ordered the Cheddar bacon chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich was great, but just a tad south of being served hot. Judging by the fact that the fries were crispy and piping hot I am assuming the sandwich was ready before the fries. And that would mean the sandwich cooled a bit before the fries were ready. Aside from that it was a good sandwich. That crispy bacon was just perfect! No one at our table had a complaint about their food. My daughter was pleased with the fish and chips, she really loved the coleslaw which is not something she usually likes. My other daughter had chicken alfredo, and my husband had the A lotta bacon burger. Last thing, parking was great. Plenty of parking! I hate going out and all the good parking is reserved for mobile or app delivery services. I appreciate that they leave parking for people who physically came to dine in. Too many places are giving all the good parking spots to the pick up crowd! I look forward to dining here again, and I regret not giving them a shot sooner! I will likely go out of my way and call their store and tell their manager how nice it was in their establishment.
