4 /5 Ward Dougherty: Great Barbecue in Pine Mountain
The 3 Lil Pigs restaurant in Pine Mountain, Georgia, turned out to be an excellent stop and easily one of the best casual barbecue spots in the area. You order at the counter and they bring the food right to your table, which keeps things quick and simple. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, a serve-yourself drink station, and plenty of parking right behind the restaurant. The dining area is a comfortable mix of booths and tables, very clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive—checking in at least twice to make sure everything was good. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes. I ordered the baby back rib sandwich, which was unique in that the ribs were still on the bone, wrapped in tin foil, and so tender they fell right off when you made your own sandwich with the provided bun. It came with two sides for about twelve dollars, and the flavor and tenderness were both excellent. Drinks are separate, but that’s typical for this style of place. Everything about the visit—from the food to the service and cleanliness—was top notch. It’s easy to find, has a relaxed atmosphere, and feels like the kind of place people come back to often. I definitely plan to.
