2 /5 Melvin Leland: I wanted it to be good, especially at the price point and because we were celebrating a special occasion. But that want was lost on me as was the fact that we were even celebrating something.
I made a reservation online for the 4 of us, and it asks the usual questions: time, date, party size, celebrating anything etc. As I went through I made sure to make note that we were celebrating my partners birthday.
We arrived a few minutes early to a very loud front entry way and a host that seemed a bit frazzled. She greeted us asked the name and then asked another person to seat us (neither of them mentioned or said happy birthday) They were busy, but there were open tables further into the restaurant space. We were taken to a table right in the walkway and seated without the table being set for service. They kind of slid the plates under the menus that they had placed before.
The table was awful and right near the bathroom and in the path of the prep kitchen. People kept walking by with containers of food back and forth past us. And the host had on these clogs, and as she walked by the table you felt every step. She walked so hard and constantly back and forth it was hard to concentrate on conversation or enjoy the space.
Our server arrived with trainee in tow and told us the specials and got us drinks (no mention of the occasion). When she came back she got our order; and we told her that we were fine for the food to come as it was ready. BIG MISTAKE.
Our salads came out in weird increments and the timing of the rest of the meal was off. The risotto was ridiculously salty. Like it had sat and reduced in the steam table before being reheated and more Parmesan added. The garnish was refrigerator cold and made for an odd flavor and temperature combination. My partner order the rigatoni, and at $26 it doesn’t come with a protein. He originally wanted the chicken parm and when he was told it dint come with pasta, again $26, he settled for the rigatoni. Both couples ordered a different pizza and the crust was crisp on the edges and dripping wet in the middle.
Again, I was excited about going and had really high expectations for the price point. With no appetizers, and my partner having one cocktail we spent $65 a person with tip. No one mentioned the occasion that was listed in the reservation, I even added an extra note that had his name listed. The loud atmosphere and constant parade of kitchen staff and the host stomping back and forth made it a less than pleasant experience.
Definitely a one and done and will not recommend. The only reason they got 2 stars out of me is because the service was decent.
