Heather Haynes Passing through town and stopped for some Chicago deep dish. We started with bruschetta - a generous portion served with at least a dozen small crusty, garlic bread slices. It was full of flavor as was the pizza! I prefer more sauce but it was delicious nonetheless. A hearty meal in an "old country Italian" setting mixed with firefighter memorabilia. Super friendly service and decent prices. Not a full bar (beer & wine only), but seemed like a pretty vast selection. They also have an outdoor patio for those warmer days. Would definitely return.

Tim R My wife had been on me to go here, and she caught me in a weak moment (I normally dont go to chains), and it wasnt bad. The server was amazing. The food actually tasted fresh and had a good flavor, except the Cole slaw, which was terrible. But were not here for Cole slaw. The inside is typical Applebees/Fridays/every other similar place. Thats not a bad thing, its just played out. Will I go back? Maybe. But maybe isnt a no, so we shall see.

Midpoint Café - Lawrenceville

Matthew Fulcher 5 Stars – A Heavenly Meal! If you’re anywhere near Lawrenceville, do yourself a favor and stop at Midpoint Cafe. I came in expecting a good meal, but what I got was nothing short of divine intervention—specifically in the form of their pork chops. Perfectly seasoned, tender beyond belief, and grilled to absolute perfection, they were a miracle on a plate. I’m convinced the cook has a direct line to the heavens. The staff were friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the prices were more than fair for the quality you get. You can taste the love and pride in every bite. Midpoint Cafe has officially become my go-to spot when I’m in town. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re seriously missing out.

The Shed Tap n Grill - Walnut

Laura C Food was fantastic. Kudos to the chef and staff! Seven of us went to The Shed on Wednesday evening, December 3rd. The service was excellent, the food was really good, and the place is clean and inviting. The only issue we had was our choice of seating. When it’s cold outside, be sure to sit as far away from the door as possible. Otherwise, every time it opens you’ll get a blast of cold air. Other than that, we had a great time and will definitely be returning.

Smokin Ks BBQ & Cajun Cuisine - Marion

christopher tripp Smokin’ K’s BBQ & Cajun Cuisine in Marion, Illinois absolutely delivers on authentic Southern and Cajun flavor. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place takes pride in doing things the right way. I was told the beef brisket was the standout item—and it did NOT miss. Perfectly tender with a deep, smoky flavor, it truly needs no sauce. Adding anything would only take away from how well it’s prepared. The dirty rice was another highlight, seasoned with just the right amount of spice and packed with that classic Cajun depth. The fried okra was a brilliant Southern touch—crispy, flavorful, and a great complement to the main dishes. I also asked about the gumbo and they offered me a sample on the spot. That alone says a lot about their hospitality. It was fantastic—rich, balanced, and carrying the perfect amount of heat. If you’re anywhere near Marion, do yourself a favor and stop at Smokin’ K’s. The food, the flavor, and the service make it genuinely worth the trip. Highly recommend!
