CANTINA DEL MAR - (Near Kankakee, IL)

Heath Huber A friend of mine recommended this restaurant, and i am glad he did. Upon arriving we were welcomed in by the owner and sat at the bar for a drink. The crafted drinks here are outstanding, I had the 815 and my wife had the express lane . After our drink we were taken to our table and I ordered a Boozy Bonfire which was also a great drink , but I liked the 815 more. Our waiter came to take our order . We ordered the green bean small plate, along with the Suppli. Bean appetizer was good, the Suppi was outstanding. Our two entrees we ordered were the hot chicken and the pumpernickel cavatelli. The hot chicken was cooked to perfection and the crispy chicken skin took it over the top. The polenta and olive oil braised greens put with the chicken made a great bite all together. My favorite entree of the nite was the pumpernickel cavatelli. This dish has brisket , cabbage , cheese. The Smokey brisket with the sauté cabbage and sauce was addictive and made me want to order the dish again so I could wake up and have it for breakfast! After our entree we ordered a dark chocolate gelato which was a great ending to our wonderful meal. Thank you Plume for the wonderful dining experience. We will be back, we will recommend.

Jay Dixon Al and Ledas is my favorite place in the Rock Falls Sterling and Dixon area . Been going there for years and never once have I been disappointed . Best Italian food around in my opinion

Jaime Rivas Saporito’s Pizzeria is about 14 miles from me i live in Freeport, but the drive was well worth it. This is a true mom-and-pop pizzeria that offers both excellent food and warm, friendly service. The pizza was outstanding—perfect crust, flavorful sauce, and fresh toppings. They also have a good selection of classic Italian favorites beyond just pizza. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, the kind of place where you immediately feel at home. Service was quick and attentive, and everything came out hot and fresh. If you’re looking for an authentic, family-run spot with top-quality pizza and Italian food, I highly recommend Saporito’s. I’ll definitely be back!

Theresa Armes Food was great and definitely portioned well for the price...employees were friendly and upbeat...owner was working hard in the kitchen on several occasions.

Pete Barger Good food, we both had the ribs and smoked chicken special. The ribs were acceptable, good flavor but slightly on the dryer side. The chicken however, was wonderful. Very flavorful skin, beautifully presented and super moist interior. Simply superb. Side items were good with real mashed potatoes and acceptable mac and cheese. My wife had the baked beans which she enjoyed and they were flavored with a significant amount of pulled pork. Both of our desserts, (Italian cream cake and a chocolate bundt cake with a ganache) were excellent. The servers were very nice. Truly however, the star of the show was the beautiful facility and million dollar view. Overlooking the Ohio river right across from Monkeys Eyebrow Kentucky this setting is stunning. Hotel rooms, cabins, a B & B housed in some grain silos (under construction) as well as an RV park and a winery are available. Boaters can tie off and walk up easily directly from the river, no car transportation needed. Large deck overlooking some of the most lovely scenery that Southern Illinois has to offer. Make the drive, youll be glad you did. $50 bucks for two (without tip) drinks and desserts included.
