Captain Fresh Fish & Chicken - (Near Kankakee, IL)

Mary Reger This was a fanatic Mexican restaurant! Best one I’ve been to in Chambana in the 36 years I’ve lived here. The restaurant has a lovely and unique ambiance. The food was prepared and hot. Mine was on fire! I had the Fajita de Pina, a half pineapple filled with goodness, fajita chicken, fajita, steak, chorizo, cheese, and baked in a half a pineapple shell. On the menu it has shrimp instead of chorizo, but I am allergic to shell fish. It was out of this world!! My husband had the Chilaquiles, nacho tortilla chips with steak, cheese and two fried eggs. He loved it! And for dessert a sopapilla with ice cream. Had the perfect amount of whipped cream and sprinkles and the sopapillas were perfect and cinnamony. The portions were huge! I think mine will make four meals! A must try in Champaign (in the old Alexander’s Steak House).

Andy Hilton The restaurant is fantastic, authentic Italian. My friend and I mistakenly tried to enter from the back parking lot and we were greeted warmly, led through the kitchen, and upstairs to the dining room. The feel of the place is cozy and family friendly. The food is reasonably priced, with a solid variety of favorites, and delicious. The arcade its in is directly across from Logan County Courthouse.

Read the previous review about bdays not being recognized, and as a fellow hospitality worker, its great to have it recognized, but should never be a requirement to a small business trying to do great things and make ends meet! Celebrate AND PAY, because restaurant overhead is no joke.

L Grabb A few of us parked in the parking lot of WBs, while others parked across the street from the restaurant. When you arrive, feel free to choose your own seats. The menu had a great variety of options, making it tough to decide what to order. I ended up enjoying a tasty egg white scramble and couldnt resist getting a piece of their strawberry bread to go, after hearing such great reviews. We all had a lovely meal and I definitely plan on returning next time Im in the area.

Abel Rivera So the way we found out about this place is interesting, a man after having a colonoscopy said the first thing he was going to eat was a burger at this place. After raving about the food to his nurse, ( my wife ), that inspired us to give it a try. Its a small cafe style place with a few tables, nothing fancy, but hidden past that are perhaps the most flavorful burgers youre gonna try. And try you should. The food is made by hand, no pre formed pattys here. There is a wide selection of burgers all with the Argentinian flare and flavor along with a variety of other sandwiches. We had burgers, the Chimichurri fries and they provided a garlic bread Chimichuuri seasoned appetizer as well. Burgers are big and will certainly satisfy you if your hungry, my wife could barely eat half of hers. We ordered our done medium, next time Im going medium rare, ask for some extra heat and youll get some roasted chilis on the side as well. For the quality of the food, cost is more than reasonable. If you live anywhere remotely near this place and fancy a tasty burger, I recommend you give this place a try.

OESTERREICH SAM (Oesfreelancing) Modern, unique, friendly, professional. These adjectives are SPOT ON! Im sure there are plenty more than can be included. These are just some right off the top of my head that I experienced during my brunch visit on November 16, 2025. . It was busy at around 9:15 Saturday morning. My wait was at least 25 minutes for a party of one. The kind hostess suggested a seat at the bar if I didnt want to wait that long. I took the seat at the bar! While there I chatted it up with other customers. We had pleasure conversations about Egg Republic in general, the owner, who was on site, and the staff. The owners rapport with his staff was wonderful to see. . Emma, the mixologist made me the most beautiful mimosa I ever saw! It was the Rose Xplosion mimosa. It was so unique from any other mimosa I ever had. It was made with a pack of Pop Rocks! I took a good picture of this beautiful masterpiece of a mimosa. I opted for the Avocado tast with two perfectly poached eggs on top. The meal was delicious. The mimosa was sexy. And the service was A+ service. . You should definately hit up Egg Republic for a fun brunch experience. You may have a bit if a wait but it will be worth it. . Cheers!
