Durty Gurts - (Near Galena, IL)

3 /5 Brian Porcello: I hear great things. Good atmosphere nice staff. Wife got garlic shrimp and I got a rueben and added a fried egg. Food was good... missing flavor. Even with the shrimp in butter it needed salt. The sweet potato fries come unsalted (im not a fan of salt but it needed it) my rueben was pretty good but lacking something. The fried egg helped but it also had no flavor to the egg. Like they have it all but its short of flavor. Hope they fix this. The loaded potato soup by far was delicious compared to the food. I see others bring ip the same thing.

As you walk in there are 3 toilets in the foyer with a sign about who those are for...you walk into the dining area and are greeted with another toilet that is where suggestions and complaints go!! The atmosphere was very casual with great memorabilia on the walls and even a photobooth of sorts...see photo!! Everything was terrific except the food. I ordered a burger that sounded scrumptious and looked even better, but was very bland. My family all ordered different items from the menu and all agreed that it needed to be more flavorful!! Great place...good times and great memories!

4 /5 Gordon Shaffer: Casual dining delivering really outstanding food in a folksy, home setting. I ordered the City Diner Burger with sweet potato waffle fries. The burger was a delicious 1/2 pounder with cheddar cheese, BTL, Gurts special mayo and topped with an over easy egg. It was tremendous! I enjoyed it so much! (I think Chic Fila ought to consider sweet potato waffle fries for their menu.). My wife loved the Grecian Delight Salad with chicken that she chose. Even so the next day as leftovers.

5 /5 Eric Gould: This place is awesome. Great decor on the inside. Staff is friendly and very attentive. We were fortunate to meet the owner Dede. Turns out she is nice and a wonderful chef. She made some sweet potato magic soup that was homemade and so delicious on a cold evening. And the Reuben was amazing. Had a wonderful birthday Bloody Mary as well!! A great place in the heart of downtown Galena

5 /5 Rique L: This was a casually fun restaurant to visit. The service was friendly, helpful and efficient. Our waitress knew the menu well and helped with decisions. I tried the Greek Town Burger which includes gyro meat, feta cheese, Greek olives, lettuce, tomato, onions and of course tzatziki sauce on a toasted pretzel bun. On the side were sweet Potato fries and a favorite beer. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor and creativity of this burger. It was a tasty treat and would definitely have it again. There is a variety of choices to satisfy any hungry tummy. Durty Gurts is a pretty big facility but does get busy because of its popularity. Youre probably better off calling ahead and making reservations.
