Garretts Restaurant and Bar - (Near Rockford, IL)

4 /5 L. Smith: First time visiting this restaurant. I liked the Thai Noodle bowl and thought it was a 4, my husband had a hamburger with shoestring onions. He rated it a 3, since the roll was dried out and the onion shoestrings undercooked. We went on a Thursday night without reservations and they had no problem seating the six of us. They have a nice beer selection, however, one of the beers on tap, that two of our party had, found that it was somewhat flat. I had the Blake’s Triple Jam Hard Cider and it was OK. Found it to be a very light light light cider. (Too light for my liking) Our server was OK, she forgot a few things and we had to remind her of them. I ordered one of the signature pastas which states it comes with bread, if you choose the salad, and I had to ask for it. I was told that they normally don’t serve the bread unless you specifically ask for the bread. When she brought the bread to the table, she told me that they were the last two pieces they had available that day. I liked their menu choices and will definitely give them another try.

1 /5 Nikolas Butenhoff: I would give a zero if I could. We came in for dinner on a Saturday night. Plenty of open tables. We waited almost 5 minutes to speak to a hostess. She didnt take my name and seemed put out. We waited 20+ minutes and was seated. Our waitress was the hostess which explained why she was never at the hostess desk. We waited an hour for our food, no updates as to why our order was delayed, the servers were glaring at our table and when we asked to go, they said they would get the manager. The manager never came. We ended up going to the bartender who was the only pleasant worker and made us feel a little better for leaving after waiting over an hour for our food with no updates. Terrible service. Terrible communication. And, I dont leave negative reviews. It is not in my nature but this absolutely deserved it.

5 /5 Emily Fitzgerald: I came to Garrett’s with a group and enjoyed my experience. This restaurant was quite busy, so I’m grateful that we reserved a table in advance. We shared the Haystack Onion Rings ($8.99) and the Crispy Dynamite Shrimp ($13.99). The shrimp was my favorite. Well cooked and flavorful. I also ordered the Thai Chicken Chop Chop ($15.99) and a NZ white wine. I wish I could remember the name of the wine because I loved it! I don’t enjoy sweet wines and this one was quite dry. The salad was also super tasty! It could do without so many wontons and could use a bit more sauce, but altogether, I enjoyed the flavors. The staff was kind and patient and the space was clean and well decorated. I would recommend this restaurant.

3 /5 Mary: We met some friends for a holiday lunch who live in Rockford. The food was just so so. The burgers were really small, my husband had a salad which was nor as described on the menu, meaning, hardly ingredients at all. Service was not that great as the server had a "holier than us" sort of attitude. Not sure how to describe that. Anyway, not ever returning.

1 /5 Shawn Harris: We had the burger that unfortunately sat in the window for 10 minutes and came out well done. We also had the pork belly tacos that were also way beyond well done. The manager never came to our table even though we asked to speak to them. The server was nice but never checked on us after the food arrived. Overall a very poor experience and we will not be coming back.
