Le Cochon Wine Bar and Bistro - (Near Geneva, IL)

5 /5 Kevin Phillips: WOW. I’m no connoisseur of French cuisine, but this has got to be one of the best from Aurora to Chicago. First off, it’s a nice cozy location that’s different and interesting. There’s an outdoor patio that’s quite nice, but we visited a few weeks ago when it was a little cooler out. It seemed like they had heaters out there. The inside however, is tight. There’s not a ton of room between tables and the tables themself felt unnecessarily long - i.e. my wife and I felt kind of far apart and had to lean in to talk. That said, we started with some excellent drinks (albeit a bit overpriced). I got a French 75 and an old fashioned; my wife got an espresso martini. All of them were wonderful, though I especially liked the old fashioned. Now, let’s talk food. To start we got the French onion soup - absolutely ridiculous. Hands down the best French onion soup I have ever had. For dinner, my wife got the steak frites which was spot on delicious and classic. The fries were excellent and the steak had great flavor and was cooked as requested. I got the pork belly stew ( I forget the actual name of the dish) - wow, wow, wow!! I’ve never had anything like this but it might be one of the best things I’ve eaten in my entire life - no exaggeration. The fatty rich pork belly was expertly cooked and crispy on the outside laid on a humble bed of beans. The fattiness of the pork was a perfect partner to the beans which brought some balance to the dish. Literally could not recommend this dish more. Lastly, the waitress was attentive and friendly. All around, it was an amazing experience. Since this place is still a bit new, I’d label it a hidden gem. It was busy so it’s kind of a “if you know you know” situation.

5 /5 Eric Kinzle: Glad to have this wonderful French restaurant in the area. This is a must-go place for any foodies in the area. They have plenty of outdoor seating, but we sat inside due to the rain. They had a good high-end feel going for the seating area. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and provided us with some great recommendations. The portions are small (which it typical of French restaurants) but the flavors were amazing and the presentation was over the top. The grilled cauliflower and hot honey was amazing. I had the beef Bourguignon which was melt-in-your-mouth good and paired very well with a Petite Syrah. Great place for date night in Geneva!

5 /5 Myroslava Bakhur: We were invited to this restaurant by friends. And I want to say that we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food, namely very tasty salads, fresh oysters, and snails were cooked quite well. Plus, the cocktails were not bad either. I want to say separately about the dessert, I really liked the chocolate cake in the middle with melted chocolate. And of course, what is not least important, the prices are quite reasonable! Therefore, I recommend it!

5 /5 Margie Garcia: Great spot with delicious food and great drinks. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine. We went for brunch, but well return to try their dinner menu. The place is beautifully decorated. They offer outdoor sitting for the warm weather days.

5 /5 Andrea Monroe: This place is great, can’t wait to go back for a different dining experience. My friend and I enjoyed Saturday brunch, sharing the Croque Madame and Omlette du Fromage. Both were great. The espresso martinis, amazing! We considered the mimosa kit…next time for sure. Service, food, and ambiance were stellar!
