Elm Street Cafe - Canton

Rating: 4.4 /5
Lisa McCluskey If you want true, homemade Midwestern comfort food, head to the Elm Street Cafe. I had a streaming bowl of chicken and noodles, which was made with homemade noodles and large pieces of shredded chicken. Very flavorful. The side was Cole slaw, which was slightly heavy on the mayo but had a great taste. My brother ordered the catfish and it arrived crispy and steamy hot and he said it was very good. The entrees with two sides was $12.95. Service was delightful. Definitely will go again.

Shamrock Pub - Dixon

Jason Cogdill We visited on Christmas and the place was busy, yet we were seated quickly. The main waitress / bartender, I presume is the owner. She was charismatic, lively, welcoming and funny. We got exactly what we ordered, without a long wait, ate well, left full and would recommend anyone stopping. Even the other customers were friendly. Two of them gave us their menus. A family with kids chatted us up. A third family wished us a merry Christmas as we left. A fantastic place.

The Rock Restaurant - Normal

Rating: 4.5 /5
Malkin John “SEVEN” Nestled in the heart of Uptown Normal at 203 West North Street, The Rock Restaurant delivers a vibrant mix of Mediterranean flair and American comfort with a side of hometown charm. The exposed brick walls and bustling energy create a cozy, eclectic vibe perfect for casual dining, while brothers Said and Charbel Salida’s hands-on presence adds a warm, family-run touch to the experience. The Feast • Super Gyro with Jalapeño & Fries: A standout star, featuring tender lamb-beef blend shaved fresh from the rotisserie, wrapped in pillowy pita with crisp veggies and a kick of jalapeño. Paired with golden, perfectly salted fries, it’s a crave-worthy classic. • Buffalo Chicken Sandwich: A hearty crunch of breaded chicken drenched in tangy buffalo sauce, balanced by cool ranch and fresh lettuce. Messy in the best way. • Corn Nuggets & Mac and Cheese Bites: The corn nuggets-sweet, crispy, and addictive-contrast with the gooey, fried macaroni pockets. Ideal for sharing (or not). • Desserts: The tiramisu surprised with its bold coffee punch and creamy layers, while the baklava offered flaky, honey-drenched layers-though the portion felt modest for the price. • The Verdict The Rock masters comfort.   food with Mediterranean soul, though some dishes shine brighter than others. Service is speedy and friendly, and the Salida brothers’ pride in their craft is palpable. Don’t miss the gyro combo or the people-watching from their Uptown patio. A solid choice for a satisfying, no-fuss meal with just enough flair to keep you coming back.

Chef Abdul Mediterranean - St. Charles

Rating: 4.9 /5
Kathy Roger We were nicely greeted and was going to take out to eat at Global Brew next door but decided to stay. The nice young lady there sat us and the owner Chef Abdul came over to give us water and say hello. Our friends were visiting from New Hampshire they came back home for a visit . They also heard of this place. We ordered a appetizer platter to share so we could try a few other things . The hummus as well as thr other apps it came with. Reasonably priced considering anywhere you go now you pay $15 for cheese curds. We each had a different dish. Chicken, Beef Shawarma, a combo and a beef kebab. My fav was the beef kebab my husband ordered. Everything was fantastic and the people there were very nice . Place is a bit small but charming with pictures on the walls and of his travels. I had a Turkish coffee it came on the cute heart plate with cool little pot and a piece of coffee candy they recommended eating the candy with sips of coffee if it was too strong but it was good. Id leave the grounds on the bottom . Dont try to stir and drink that bottom part like I did. Baklava was very tasty as well. I would 100,% recommend them as well as thr other 1000 people that reviewed them.
