Jessies Diner - North Chicago

Rating: 4.7 /5
Yeisi Montilla I absolutely loved my experience at Jessie’s Diner and I 100% recommend it! The food was delicious and tasted truly homemade, the service was incredibly fast, and the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. The owners are so kind and make you feel right at home, and the waitstaff was professional, friendly, and attentive from start to finish. You can really tell they care about their customers and the quality of what they serve. This place is a gem in Chicago, and I can’t wait to come back!

DeSoto House Hotel - Galena

Rating: 4.6 /5
John Tangen Love the DeSoto House Hotel. Historic hotel which has kept alot of its charm - still using brass keys. One of the best places to stay in town. Perfect location to walk main street and experience Galena, with parking garage for guests (this is the value - parking and transportation are challenging otherwise). They surprised us with champagne and heart rose set up on the bed. Breakfast buffet was great. Love this hotel and will definitely stay next time, when we escape Chicago.

Family Traditions - Carmi

StLouisSled Its not very often that I get blown out of the water when it comes to food but on our way home from Indiana yesterday we got hungry and was looking for lunch in Carmi, IL. Joy googled and found this place. We rolled up in front and wasnt sure it was even a restaurant but took a chance and went in. We felt out of place and under dressed at first but were welcomed in wholeheartedly even in our leather and doo-rags and quickly felt right at home. There was a fixed menu with just two choices for the day, chicken or beef but WOW! the most delicious Sunday home cookin Ive had in a long time. I ate everything on my plate and even ordered dessert... Home made blackberry pie. If you ever get anywhere near Carmi you have to stop at Family Traditions Restaurant.

Cave-In-Rock State Park Restaurant - Cave-In-Rock

James Rasor The food was good and a very good value. We ordered from the dinner menu, but the food was a good value. The strawberry butter is almost a dessert topping and is very good.

Valerie Griffin If you like to eat at the hole in the wall, mom and pop, off the beaten path places----- this one is up your alley. Oh man, if you go away hungry from this place, it is your own fault. The burgers are big, bigger than the bun. And it is fresh ground beef, not pre-pressed patties. Your fries and onion rings come in a separate basket and is a more than generous serving- shareable by 2 actually. I felt the prices were very reasonable. Kids are welcome here. It has a bar and dining area. It was a little dark in there as part of the lights were off; however, that may have been due to how hot it was during the day, trying to keep the place cool. I am not certain. It is decorated with a lot of 80s memorabilia. The waitress/ bartender was friendly and brought the food out hot and quickly. I only selected the $10-$20 option as that was my sandwich, fries and a drink. If you were to get water it what fall under the $1-$10. This is definitely a spot. You want to go back to.
