The VIG West Loop - (Near Chicago, IL)

4 /5 Elizabeth Dorwart: We came in a large group to celebrate a birthday and The Vig handled it wonderfully! Our waitress was fantastic! Super friendly and always on top of the orders, she even brought out fun shots with sparklers for the birthday girl. We ordered everything to split and every single dish was delicious. The deviled eggs were amazing with a great mix of elote flavor and classic deviled egg flavor. The Italian beef bao appetizer were surprisingly delicious and so tender. The chicken wings were flavorful, and so was the pimento Mac and cheese. The ribs were my favorite entree of the night, they were incredibly tender and fell off the bones. Bonus: they even brought us warm lemon hand towels to the table inbetween our dishes.

3 /5 Manal Hajire: The Vig West Loop is a really nice spot, pretty big space and the host was lovely! At first, service was great, but later on we kept getting helped by different servers, which felt a bit confusing but not terrible. The food was yummy, we got the beet & ricotta salad (rich and flavorful, with that perfect mix of sweet, sour, and salty), and the calamari was tasty but could’ve been a bit more for the price. I also tried the fried chicken sandwich, which came with mac & cheese. Both were good, though the mac & cheese didn’t really taste like mac & cheese to me (more like a pink pasta, but still super good). We didn’t end up getting dessert because service got really slow, waited about 45 minutes for our check and had to wave down multiple servers. It might’ve just been because it got busy later in the night. Then had to wait another 20min for someone to take my card, had to walk from my table to a server with my card. Overall, I’d rate it 7/10. I’d definitely come back at a different time of day to try more items on the menu.

4 /5 Tiffany Taylor: The Vig is a great place to hang out with friends over a couple drinks and have a good time. The food however was not the most impressive. We got the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice and Italian Beef Bao Buns for staters. The Tuna Crispy Rice didn’t taste like much but the rice was nicely fried and still soft on the inside. The Bao Buns also didn’t taste like much? It relied pretty heavily on the sauce which was also not that good. It was supposed to be a giardiniera aioli but didn’t have a kick to it at all? Most of the food we received seemed to rely heavily on their sauces… which were not good. (Except for the sauce on the asparagus) For our main courses we got the Gnocchi Alla Vodka with Chicken and the Japanese Mushroom Burger. The gnocchi was drenched in sauce that had a very heavy taste of Basil. For some, they might enjoy that, but for me it was overwhelming. The burger was honestly one of the best things I ate but it’s not that big, has no meat, and it’s $17. I don’t think it’s worth that much. If it were $10ish it would easily be the best thing on the menu for me but this is not worth the price. We got the Daily Veg (Asparagus) and the half Caesar as sides and these were the star of the show. I would definitely order both of these again. The Tiramisu was great but I think it’s made with Vodka and it would be 1000x better without that. Besides the food, this place is fantastic. The food came out in less than 10 minutes? The starters came out alarmingly quick? The server was amazing and friendly, so were the hosts up front. The drinks were 10/10. I got a vodka soda and it was STRONG. My girlfriend got a Chambord Sour and it was amazing AND only $10. For the city, that’s actually really good.

5 /5 Courtney Will: Have been here twice and both times the servers were attentive and sweet. Interior is spacious and has a cool vibe. My favorite thing here was the deviled eggs!

5 /5 Eduardo Guardia: The team at The Vig went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated for our anniversary dinner. The service quality was incredible and the food arrive to the table super fast. The seared tuna, chicken sandwich (and fries) and the tomato appetizer were delicious. Im looking forward to going back and visiting the other location in the city. Highly recommend!
