El Zarape Authentic Mexican Cuisine - Wheaton

Rating: 4 /5
Kevin Isabelle Went there for dinner on a Monday evening recently. It has been probably 13-14 years since the last time we ate here. It has an impressive length of time at this location. Many years ago I thought they would expand or find a larger space, but surprisingly they have not. Interestingly they charge $3 for the standard basket of chips and salsa. I am used to those being no extra charge at similar Mexican restaurants (I am sure the cost is built into the entree and drink prices). However at El Zarape you will pay for them, and the prices of the entrees and drinks is pretty much in line with similar restaurants if not slightly higher. So in general you will pay more for a meal here. We ordered one coke, a beer, 2 dinners, and a basket of chips and it was about $55. The dinners were good and tasted fresh. Service was great, but the restaurant was for the most part empty. I think only one other table was occupied. I drive right by the restaurant at least 4 times a week and I know it is popular and crowded on the traditional eat out nights like Fridays and Saturdays. Overall it is a nice place for dinner.

Alamo Steakhouse & Saloon - Mattoon

Derrek Line Experience overall was great. We had Addison as our server. I felt she was very attentive and present. The food was great(photos attached) but we only had happy hour drinks and appetizers. The crowd wasnt busy so hard to give a full review, but from what we had I was very impressed. We sampled all the happy appetizers and had zero complaints, just a pleasant suprise of never trying wasabi ranch I believe it was. Been a long time since Ive Alamo, but will be returning with others.

J.R. Armour It’s a true embarrassment but the North does it better. The Chicken George is absolutely bomb! Best fried chicken I’ve had hands down. I WILL be visiting again when I come back up this way!

Morne Lotter We didnt have a wait with a full restaurant. Food was fast at the table and everything went great.

La Costa Bora - Belvidere

Rating: 4.4 /5
Dillon Valencia If there’s a restaurant that could give a master class to other restaurants, it’s Costa Bora. While I’ve only been twice for brunch, I can speak from experience that they know what they’re doing. Try the skirt steak chilaquiles and if you’re hungry get the Big Daddy! Don’t get it without La Cafe De Olla though! And if you’re looking for a good time, look no further than their Canterito cocktail! So grateful my buddy Quincy told me about this place. 5/5 all day.

Los Gallos Mexican Grill - Arthur

Rating: 4.5 /5
Kimberly Wax My husband and his colleagues have switched to Los Gallos from another local establishment; better food, better price, convenient location to Masterbrand. He took me for lunch and it is the best Mexican food in the county. I was pleased the food was not overly oily/greasy, did not feel miserable after eating, as I usually do so with other Mexican restaurants. The dining area was very clean. I noticed the air was not laden with odor or grease and mentioned it as we left, which prompted my husband to have a conversation with the owner about the contractor they both hire to clean ventilation systems. Through that conversation, I realized the kitchen must be exceptionally clean, as well. I noticed a Golden Spoon award, which is a good sign. The food was very good. Our new favorite.
