Tammy Coming back to Baton Rouge—I had to stop at The Chimes — and wow, it’s still just as amazing as I remembered. Some places change, but The Chimes feels timeless. I kicked things off with the Sautéed Crab Fingers — crab claws in white wine garlic butter with parsley. Honestly, that sauce alone is worth the trip. Then came my entrée: the Salmon Alfredo. Perfectly cooked salmon over creamy alfredo pasta, with a warm bread roll on the side. Comfort food at its finest. Walking back in after all these years felt like nothing had changed — the food, the vibe, the memories. The Chimes is still the spot that makes Baton Rouge feel like home.

Sixi Ma The chargrilled oysters were wonderfully seasoned, with rich butter, high heat, and garlic softened to a perfect melt. Half a dozen disappeared in seconds. The lobster pasta was also beautifully done. The noodles were cooked to a soft, comforting texture and blended with a savory sauce that lingered on the tongue. The portion was generous. The alligator taco was more average. Although many people recommend it, the alligator meat had a spongy, chicken-like texture that was not very appealing. The dessert, however, was astonishing. It felt like something meant for four people. Even with two of us working on it for ten minutes, the peak remained untouched. Beneath a mountain of whipped cream were cold scoops of ice cream and a warm brownie, a combination that kept the textures changing with every bite. A lovely experience overall.

Craig Hodge Nice dive! Brisket quesadilla was great! House chips were crispy and smoky. The spicy BBQ sauce has just the right amount of heat. The sweet BBQ sauce was a little too sweet for me. The chipotle sauce that came with the quesadilla was amazing. My wife ordered a spud with brisket. She would have preferred real butter and real cheese instead of what she was given. Great atmosphere. Great service. The outside patio was perfect for dining this time of year. Parking is limited but there is public parking across the street. They take precautions for those who have Celiac or are sensitive to Gluten. Super nice folks!

My family and I had the pleasure of dining at Walk-On’s this evening, and we were fortunate enough to have the superstar of the restaurant scene as our server. From the very first moment she walked up to our table, she set a tone of warmth, confidence, and genuine hospitality that you simply cannot teach. She was the perfect balance of professional and personable — the kind of server who makes you feel like you’re the only table in the building even though you know she’s juggling twenty things at once. Our food was outstanding, but I am convinced it tasted even better because of the way she took care of us. The mozzarella sticks came out hot and perfectly golden. The wings were seasoned just right. The fish tacos were fresh and absolutely delicious. And the gumbo — let me tell you, Walk-On’s should name a bowl after her because the way she delivered it made it feel like fine dining. What truly sets LaReyna apart is her intuition. She anticipates needs before you even think them. Drinks were refilled without asking. Sauces, napkins, extra plates — everything appeared exactly when it should. She checked on us with perfect timing: not too much, not too little. Just right. That is a rare skill in customer service and she has it naturally. And above all else, she carried herself with a calm, confident professionalism that reminded me of someone far beyond her years. Walk-On’s should be thankful to have someone like her representing their brand. She is an absolute standout, and tonight she turned an ordinary dinner into something special. To management: If you are not already grooming this young lady for leadership, you are missing a golden opportunity. She is easily one of the finest servers we have ever had at any restaurant — anywhere. We will absolutely be back, and we will absolutely be asking for LaReyna.
