Latils Landing Restaurant at Houmas House Plantation and Gardens - Darrow

Rating: 4.7 /5
Cindy Garel We stopped there after going to see the bonfires that will be burned on Christmas Eve. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holidays and everyone was very friendly. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious. I would definitely recommend.

Basels Market - St Francisville

Rating: 4.7 /5
Laura C I didnt try the coveted chicken salad, but I loved Basels Market. My Avocado Toast with Fried Egg was fresh, creamy, crispy, and well-seasoned. And its a lovely place – even the bathroom is photo-worthy.

Redwood Motel - Leesville

Rating: 3.3 /5
Stacie Henry For a hotel its not that bad. Price is fair for a night and if you are staying a week its great price. Shower runs , tv , Wi-Fi, a/c unit , microwave and fridge works nicely. Small but perfect size enough for a couple who is moving or staying a night here. It has restaurants , and a shopping center across the street. Close to Wal-Mart and the movies. Zero problems with the managers , they are nice people and sweet. I would come back here and stay. Just follow their rules that they have in the office.

The Walking Pig - St Joseph

alice apostle This place is da bomb! It checks all the boxes in the way of food and service. The atmosphere is very nice...wide open dining room capped by a huge bar. The owner/chef has a wonderful sense of flavor profiling and comes up with some very interesting and delicious options.

Shack 16 - Denham Springs

Rating: 4.8 /5
Mark Sanders If you’re craving a classic, dialed-in burger in Denham Springs, Shake 16 hits the mark. I ordered a hamburger and a side of Shake Fries, and both were genuinely excellent. Food: The hamburger is everything you want from a no-nonsense burger: a well-seasoned patty with a good sear, melty cheese, crisp lettuce, and a soft bun that actually holds up. The balance is spot-on—savory, a little smoky, and not weighed down with sauce. The Shake Fries deserve their own shout-out. They’re hot, crispy, and generously seasoned—think bold, salty-savory with a touch of spice that keeps you nibbling long after you’re “done.” Portions are generous. Service & Atmosphere: Service is friendly and efficient. Food came out hot and fresh without a long wait. The vibe is casual and clean—easy for a quick lunch, weeknight dinner, or a relaxed bite with friends or kids. Value: Prices are fair for the quality and portion size. You can get full without breaking the bank, and the fries are big enough to share. What to know before you go: • Customization: Ask for add-ons like bacon or grilled onions; they elevate the burger without overpowering it. • Fries tip: If you like extra crunch, request the Shake Fries “extra crispy.” • Heat levels: The seasoning on the fries is flavorful; if you’re spice-sensitive, ask for light seasoning or sauce on the side. • Timing: It can get busy around dinner; earlier or later visits mean faster seating and pickup. Bottom line: Shake 16 nails the basics—and that’s a compliment. Great burger, standout fries, quick service, and solid value. I’ll be back for the Shake Fries alone. Highly recommended.
