El Potro - (Near Opelousas, LA)

5 /5 B. Doctor (TechDiva): Some of the best Mexican food around. The margaritas are delicious and STRONG. The owner and his staff always give the best customer service. I’ve never had a bad meal from here and often host my business meetings here.

2 /5 Michael DePew: This place was so disappointing to me. First, I want to be fair.... the food was edible and safe to eat, but that is about it! It DID NOT even come close to what I expect from a Mexican restaurant. The hamburger meat in my cholula and burrito was just plain hamburger without spice or seasoning of any kind. Likewise, the "enchilada sauce" topping was plain, unflavored tomato sauce. The rice and beans had almost no flavor to them either. No sense of freshness in tortilla shells. The tomato was as hard as a slice of wood.... I didnt dare to try and eat it. The single bright spot was the guacamole, which was very good. The appetizer chips werent fresh and most were broken/small chip fragments and the salso was ok/good (not great). I suppose if Id poked around in their dumpster Id have found the empty cans of their menu foods with Cisco and/or Gordon Food Service. Ive eaten better mexican food from a hospital cafeteria than from here. I HAVE NO PLANS to be going back! Wait service was both slow and not very attentive.

5 /5 MJ D: Had an amazing experience at El Potro! I ordered the Chicken Fajitas and a Margarita, and both were absolutely perfect. The fajitas were sizzling, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, while the margarita was strong and refreshing—just the way it should be! The service was incredibly fast, and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. If you’re in the Opelousas area, this is definitely a spot worth stopping by. Can’t wait to come back!

5 /5 Diana Bordenave: While I was on the road, I saw this place and decided to give it a try. I wanted a quick lunch break and this place was perfect. The food comes out quick and hot. Our food was very flavorful and a really good portion. The chips and salsa were fresh and good too. Really good service and restaurant is very clean. Had a good dining experience. If Im ever around the area I would definitely go back again.

3 /5 Jay: The food was alright, the salsa was about the best thing I had. Went there 3 times, tried different food each times and it was alright just nothing necessarily special. Service was some what unenthused. Just seemed like a Mexican restaurant going through the motions while being at the moderate to high range on price for food and drinks.
