5 /5 Amanda Graue: When we first walked in, I was a little unsure based on the appearance of the place—but wow, was I proven wrong. This spot taught me the important lesson: never judge a book by its cover. The food was absolutely amazing—everything was perfectly seasoned and didn’t even need a shake of salt. We ordered the gator bites, ribeye steak, and fried catfish. The gator bites were flavorful and crispy, and the shrimp was juicy and delicious. The ribeye was a generous cut—definitely large—but a bit on the fatty side. Still, it was cooked just right and packed with flavor. The fried catfish was a standout—hot, crispy, and flaky. Everything came out fresh and piping hot. If you’re looking for a meal that delivers on taste, this place hits the mark. I’d absolutely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a down-home, well-seasoned Southern-style meal.

5 /5 waylon wheelis: We started with a bowl of gumbo and fried pickles. The gumbo was one of the best Ive ever had in a restaurant. Very authentic Cajun gumbo. I had a 16-oz ribeye and a half dozen charbroiled oysters. Steak was a little overcooked but was tender and had a good taste. The oysters were excellent, although a little on the small side. My wife had the fried catfish plate and an extra side of onion rings. She loved it all. The onion rings really are not rings but battered and fried onions. They were delicious. The service was excellent!

5 /5 Christian Smith: Had our Valentines lunch there today! Paige was our waitress and she was extremely attentive! I got the Zydeco platter (fried eggplant with crabcake on top, etouffee and cheese sauce) and it was SO GOOD I made myself sick trying to finish it. My husband got the ribeye special with the loaded mash & he said it was great, tasted like it was cooked over an open flame. Will definitely be back to try more! The etouffee had so much flavor and I dont normally eat that but was so glad it came on my meal! Yum!!!!

This is one of those places that surprises you with food that is prepared by people that definitely have culinary skills that just arent found at many places these days. We were out of town and didnt really know where to eat, but definitely wanted to have good cajun cooking and Fontenots did not disappoint! If youre in the Monroe, Louisiana area and yall are looking for some good cajun cooking, STOP HERE! The waitress was also very nice too ! If Im in the Monroe area again with my family we know where to go for a delicious cajun meal. The crab cakes were delicious, the gator was tender, and the boudin was tasty,tasty,tasty.Thank you Fontenots for a great meal!

5 /5 Ian Tilley: The food here is utterly delicious. Great bowl of gumbo. The catfish with crawfish etouffee was so satisfying. It’s hard to pick what to get when there’s so much good stuff on the menu. There was just one gentleman working the front while I was there. (I think his name is James?) He is one of the best restaurant workers I’ve seen. He genuinely seemed to care about the customers. I could overhear a family talk about how great he was, especially with their young son. I would come back again even if the food was average just because I know the service is going to be stellar.
