5 /5 E Stover: We made our way out to the bayou and stopped at Spahr’s Seafood Restaurant in Des Allemands for a late weekday lunch. When we walked in, the dining room was about half full—some locals, some travelers just like us. We were greeted right at the door and quickly seated at a table in the back with a perfect view of the swampy bayou, which my mother absolutely loved.
We kicked things off with the sampler platter appetizer, a fun mix of crawfish bread, hush puppies, fried onions, and mini crab cakes. It was the perfect start to the meal, and the crawfish bread in particular was so good I could’ve eaten an entire plate of just that.
For our entrée, the three of us shared the Seafood Platter, which came loaded with catfish, shrimp, stuffed crab, and fried oysters. It was more than enough to satisfy us, though I did leave wishing I had room to try more of their menu. That just means I’ll be coming back soon to sample the other dishes.
The service was attentive, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere added to the whole experience. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend stopping at Spahr’s Seafood.
