5 /5 Toney: We decided to eat at Walk-On’s on a whim. We’ve been here before, but it never really drew us back so we wanted to give it another shot and see if anything had changed.
We started with the Alligator Bites as an appetizer. Unfortunately, they were tough I couldn’t even poke them with a fork to pick them up. The texture was chewy, almost like biting into a piece of tendon, which made me think we got the worst cut of alligator. On the positive side, the seasoning was spot on, and the dipping sauce was excellent it almost saved the dish.
For the entrée, I ordered the Double Bacon Cheeseburger and let me tell you, yessss sir… this was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a restaurant in a long time. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. My wife had the Catfish, and she really enjoyed the crispy fry and well-balanced seasoning.
I also wanted to try your Red Beans and Rice (it was Monday, after all), but the portion size was disappointing, more like a small appetizer than a true bowl. For a Louisiana-themed restaurant, that missed the mark a bit.
Overall, the visit was a mix of highs and lows, great burger and catfish, but the appetizer and red beans left room for improvement.
