Café Mamo - (Near Grand Rapids, MI)

1 /5 Gabriel Huber: Café Mamo was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I went with my girlfriend and she ordered the ramp pasta, which was honestly disgusting. She didn’t even eat one bite of it. It looked like slop and tasted even worse. For a place that charges insane prices, you’d think they could at least make edible food. The service was just as bad. Our server clearly saw that my girlfriend didn’t touch her food and didn’t bother to ask if something was wrong. No check-in, no apology, nothing. It felt like they didn’t care at all. And to top everything off, they deleted my previous review instead of actually fixing anything. That says everything you need to know about how they handle feedback. Ridiculously overpriced, terrible food, and even worse service. I would never tell anyone to go here.

5 /5 Sheila Johnson: Amazing farm to table food. We had the walleye for our main, the squash appetizer and the ice cream of the day which was grape with a drizzle of olive oil and flaky salt. It was incredible.

5 /5 Olivia Al-Eisa: Absolutely outstanding meal. A true hidden gem in Grand Rapids. It’s so quaint, feels very European or like a small restaurant you’d find in New York, makes the meal more intimate. The food was better than I imagined. We got drinks, small plates to share and a few entrees, all delicious. The menu changes, so while I’d love to recommend a few dishes, you may be graced with something else. That being said, I’ve seen a few pictures of the half chicken in these reviews and it was by and far the favorite of the table. If you’re there and it’s on the menu, do not miss out. Service was great, wine was recommended for the meal and paired well. We were persuaded to end the meal with the ice cream and it was the perfect sweet (but also savory) ending. It was an early dinner but the meal was satisfying enough to last the evening. We will definitely be returning.

3 /5 Rene Bussing: My friend and I stopped in here around 4:45pm on a Wednesday for dinner before heading to an art class. While there was only one other couple in the place, we were informed that there was only bar seating because the tables were all reserved for dinner. We didnt mind. The bar stools were comfortable, and the bartender was friendly. The menu is small and seasonal which was perfect for my taste. The ambiance is superb with good lighting and music. This place has a chill vibe, however, the food was lacking for the price. I had the walleye with potatoes. The walleye had very little flavor and the diced potatoes were undercooked. My friend ordered gnocchi. It had a good flavor but was real doughy. With tip we spent $104. That was for two small entrées, two mocktails, and an $8 order of rolls (which consisted of 2 and im fairly certain they were store bought). I would visit here again for drinks but not food. I am a proponent of smaller serving sizes and higher quality seasonal food, but this just didnt deliver IMO.
