2 /5 Justin Schneider: I get that this place is new and trying something different, but overall it was average at best. The dining room was awkwardly quiet—some background music would go a long way. Greeting and seating were quick, which I appreciated.
I ordered hot jasmine tea with artificial sweetener, but they only offer sugar, which isn’t ideal for diabetics. The samosas were average, though the spring rolls were very good and the dipping sauce was tasty.
The Tom Kha soup was disappointing. Something overpowered the coconut flavor—possibly the galangal—and it lacked the creamy, rich texture I was expecting. It was also quite watery. I barely ate it and let them know I didn’t care for it, but there was no offer to remove it from the bill or provide any sort of compensation.
The shrimp fried rice was also average. It came out very quickly and slightly chilled, which made it feel less than fresh. I also prefer shrimp without the tails left on.
Once my food arrived, no one checked back on me or brought the bill. I eventually had to go to the register and wait for someone to come out from the back.
Unfortunately, this experience didn’t give me a reason to return.
