New York Deli Restaurant - (Near Clinton Township, MI)

5 /5 Lorien Spilkin: We arrived in Detroit for a wedding and needed to find a place for lunch. We took a chance at looking for a Deli, and we were not disappointed. My husband had the soup and half a sandwich special, and I went for a plain pastrami and corned beef on fresh rye bread. When we sat down they brought us a little bowl of pickles to snack on too. The soup was rather tasty, and it looked like it had fresh homemade noodles. The sandwich was delicious. The corned beef was more salty than the pastrami, and the pastrami did have more fat on it though. It was very good and I would go back. I wish we had a little place like this where we live currently.

5 /5 Veralina Jonah: New York Deli is an absolute gem. This is a true scratch kitchen — everything is made fresh, and you can taste the difference in every bite. Their barley soup is hands-down my favorite. It’s so good that I’ve gone back three separate times just to buy a pint of it. Comforting, flavorful, and perfectly made. The hamburgers deserve their own praise — easily the best burger I’ve ever had, and I’m very picky about my burgers. It was so tender and juicy it literally melted in my mouth. I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to eat a burger anywhere else after this. I’ve tried several of their sandwich options and have been extremely satisfied every time. They also have one of the best coleslaws I’ve ever had — fresh, perfectly balanced, and not overdressed. On top of the amazing food, the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, which makes the experience even better. I highly recommend everyone try New York Deli. Fresh, delicious, and done right.

5 /5 Mark Thomas: Finally got in! Been driving by, at all the wrong times, for a couple years. Now Im wishing I had made a stronger effort earlier. From the moment I entered, I felt welcome. The staff was terrific throughout. A special shout out to Ashleigh who was so warm, friendly, a genuinely nice person. Felt like I had known her for years. Narrowing down the choices from such an extensive menu is never an easy thing for me; too many things look good. At least I had a basket full of breadsticks, rolls & butter, plus a bowl of very good pickles (which they will refill), to enjoy while I looked it over. I settled on the half sandwich & soup combo eventually, choosing the Rueben and the beef & barley soup. The soup was thick & delicious, I couldve eaten a quart easily. The sammich was lean and tasty, the kraut moist but not dripping, on toasted bread with dressing on the side. A down note: the price on the menu was $2 less than I was charged. Guess the menu needs updating. Another fine place found close to home in Clinton Township. I will be back, but not on Sunday, cuz theyre closed.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful on the phone, making the ordering process quick and easy. ​When I picked up my food, the staff was just as welcoming and had my order ready right on time. And the best part? The food was amazing! The pastrami brisket was absolutely delicious—perfectly tender and full of flavor. Even after the short drive home, the sandwich was still warm and held up beautifully. ​Its clear they put a lot of care into their food and customer service. I highly recommend New York Deli for a delicious takeout meal!

2 /5 Victoria Madden: The food was pretty good, standard for a deli restaurant but a little on the pricey side. Their menu tells you that you can add onion rings to any wrap order for four dollars. When I ordered the corned beef wrap and asked for a side of onion rings, the waitress brought a larger serving and charged me $11. She told me that I should’ve asked for an “upgrade” of onion rings instead of a side of onion rings. She said she assumed I wanted to share them. I would expect a waitress to have asked me if I wanted a side or an upgrade instead of assuming I wanted to pay $11 for a simple side of onion rings.
