1 /5 Amy Lowe: Me & some friends decided to check out Salernos Tavern on Van Born for lunch yesterday, and It was the WORST experience. From the time we walked in we were met with dirty looks, the entire place has a very unwelcoming vibe. The waitress seemed nice at first, until we sent back an order of mini tacos.. then we became an issue. The mini tacos were EMPTY shells with no filling. I’m sorry, why would we pay for that? Where was the filling that was advertised? The lovely lady that was sitting by the door (not sure of her affiliation) was screaming at the guy next to her that she was going to kill him during this mind you. But her tantrum was interrupted when the waitress slammed the unfilled tacos we sent back in front of her, then the screaming turned towards us with this woman going on about how THEY ARE FROZEN TACOS FROM A BAG SO WHAT IF THEY ARE EMPTY. And blatantly mocking us… the paying customers.
Safe to say we paid, left and will absolutely never return. The place is dark, unwelcoming, food sucks, service sucks, and there are MUCH better local bars for a quick lunch. Wild Willy’s came in clutch with their great food & friendly staff after we ditched Salernos.
