China Bowl - Lincoln Park
John Zadikian You would think fulfulling a craving for dine-in Chinese food on an early Sunday afternoon would be easy. Thanks to two places closer to my home being confirmed closed when their Google listing had them as open, China Bowl was the days winner, and Im glad it was. The egg rools were hot and crispy; the chicken rice soup was fresh and flavorful; and the pepper steak, General Tsos chicken, vegetables, and fried rice were on point - very tasty, but not overpowering with salt or other flavors. There were two women working their tails off in the front of the house dealing with an increasing number of dine-in customers and carry-out orders. (Bonus points to the little boy running around and passing out fortune cookies and other items. He was cute and generated a few laughs with his infectious smile.)
China Bowl is clean and updated, but not overdone with decorations. The only reason Im giving four stars for atmosphere is because one table was filled with empty carry-out boxes, napkins, etc., and similar items were found on tables in another area of the dining room. Maybe thats necessary because of the size of the room, but, in my opinion, those items should be hidden from diners. Ill definitely be back - and soon!
