Zaffron Kitchen Schenectady - Schenectady

Rating: 4.8 /5
Richard R. This is a wonderful new restaurant and wonderful new addition to Schenectady. I have been at the one in Latham and this one is larger and more spacious. The cuisine is a combination of Greek and Middle Eastern. I would say. There are a wide variety of choices for most anyone and vegetarians can do very well here as can vegans. I had a falafel bowl and the rice was a standout. I was asked if I wanted brown rice but this is a long grain brown rice that has to be more expensive and it was absolutely delicious. There are a wide variety of choices to top your bowl with including lots of different sauces. I got the hot sauce on the side, which was a good choice. The food was delicious. The people are lovely and the atmosphere is very comfortable and spacious. Let’s make sure they succeed!

Whale Belly Food Truck - Hudson

Will Morel There is no way for me to express in words how absolutely preposterously delicious these french fries are, and the fact that they are gluten-free means that my five year-old son can enjoy them. Every time we are upstate, my kids are constantly asking, “When can we go to whale belly?” The proprietor of the establishment, John, Works hard on every order, is extremely down to earth, and is super chill about the fact that he makes the best French fries on the planet. The beer next door is good, too.

Ikraam Aslam First of all, this place is halal-friendly, which was a huge plus. They have both hot pot and Korean BBQ, and the menu is very well thought out with icons showing what is halal and what is not. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was well-marinated, fresh, and delicious, from the poultry and seafood to the beef and lamb. Even the starters like rangoons and dumplings were so good that I ordered them several times. You get a 2-hour dining window, but around 1.5 to 1.75 hours in they’ll kindly let you know to start wrapping up, which honestly makes sense since by then you’re full and winding down. Service was outstanding. A big shoutout to Dylan, who was our main waiter. He was attentive, clear in communication, and incredibly fast. Anytime we placed an order through the iPad, the food came out almost immediately. Dylan and the rest of the staff were also quick to swap out our grills to keep everything clean and safe, which made the whole experience even better. Dessert deserves its own highlight: the crème brûlée was so good that I personally had about 10 of them, no joke, and the group went through nearly all of them. The ice cream options (taro, chocolate, vanilla, and cream) were also excellent. The overall experience of cooking the food yourself, enjoying high-quality meats, and having such attentive service made it one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. My tip: focus on the proteins and don’t fill up on carbs so you can really maximize the unlimited option. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great halal-friendly hot pot and BBQ experience. Amazing food, amazing service, and amazing atmosphere.

THE HALAL HEN - Monticello

Sarah Anderson I come here all the time.i always order the chicken sandwichs for my partner and myself. My partner loves the spicy and I the classic. The food has definitely gotten better from the time they first opened. They always ask for honesty on what they could do better and are always willing to improve if you just speak respectfully. When they first opened I had an issue with a platter and they kindly fixed the problem. One of the owners was in asked for my honest opinion on something; the next time I went back they took my advice on what I suggested and improved. The staff is very friendly, and the kitchen is clean. Love this place.
