Wm. Farmer and Sons - (Near Hudson, NY)

4 /5 Carter Harrington: This is a nice place, no notes on service- cocktails a hit : their ginger beer is on point- Trout dip awesome - But *please* let people know that the fish and chips is a full bone and head fish. Never seen it done like that and it should be noted either by menu or server it’s preparation, a bit taken back by the head and having to use my fingers to suck all the meat off the bones for a rustic experience. Nice atmosphere too.

5 /5 Matthew Broder: Cocktails, desserts and dessert cocktails were the highlights of our visit. The service was great, our waiter was a young man who had the polish and professionalism of an experienced server. The food in between our first round of drinks and our last was quite good. The portions were not huge but what was on the plate packed enough of a flavorful punch to leave you satisfied. The decor and layout of the restaurant was quite unique and interesting. Overall a really nice meal in a warm an inviting room.

5 /5 Samantha Hickey: I don’t know how they could have made the entire experience any more incredible! We stayed in the Schooner Suite, and we ended up bringing our dog at the last minute and every staff member was so kind, accommodating and thoughtful that we didn’t want to leave! We indulged in burgers and oysters - both beyond delicious - in their intimate, yet lively and welcoming restaurant before heading back to our room. Every amenity we could wish for was provided! Thank you so much to the entire staff for making our stay, which was also a birthday celebration - absolutely magical.

1 /5 Alessandra: While the ambiance and service of this restaurant (I have not stayed there) are lovely, I was very disappointed as a plant based person to not be able to really enjoy a group dinner there - despite calling ahead and mentioning we had a plant based person in our group and the restaurant noting that in the reservation - however when we sat, the server had no idea. When part of their mission on the website is, “Not just farmers in name, we believe in supporting farmers and producers who share in our passion of growing and preparing the finest products imaginable,” with the ABUNDANCE of seasonal amazing produce that is available in the Hudson valley (yes i know it’s the winter but still there are local plants / grains available) I was extremely disappointed to only be able to eat these items: French fries, some frisée lettuce with oil/vinegar, bread, or roasted potatoes (which was what I ended up getting.) You don’t need to have a full plant based menu to have ONE or two plant forward options - it’s 2025, though I know we are a small portion of the overall population there is often one of us in a group and it would have been nice to enjoy a main dish that was plant-celebratory (again, not asking them to be a vegan restaurant) but I think they should change their mission to say they’re celebrating local farmers and produce that only feature animal products. Anyway, if you’re plant based - don’t come here. this place is not welcoming to us, despite the pleasant staff and warm ambiance.

4 /5 S. Geary: Not sure if I’d recommend staying here. Pictures definitely make this place look cooler than it is. 10000% not worth the price they charge. I understand it’s an old building but it’s as if the owners think cracks and holes in the walls add charm when in fact it just looks like it hasn’t been updated ever. You can hear whispers the walls are so thin. You literally hear everything. The apartments across the street have people at all hours of the day blasting music and screaming. My room, the Fawkner, was infested with bees. I told the front desk and they said they’d check on it but there was never anyone who stopped by or got rid of them. My parents room, the Pennington, was like a dark hole with absolutely no light. These rooms are small and even though they say they can fit 4 people it’s an extremely tight squeeze. The lobby’s and restaurant are the prettiest parts of the hotel. The food and drinks are good. Other than that, you’re really paying a boatload to hear your neighbors conversations and get a terrible nights sleep in an old hotel. Not worth the hundreds they are charging IMO.
