Olives and Peppers - Greensburg

Rating: 4.6 /5
James Tony Olives & Peppers is a must-try in Greensburg. They’re currently running a holiday menu that’s priced a little on the higher end—but absolutely fair for the quality and the massive portion sizes. I was already full just from the zucchini appetizer and a bowl of wedding soup (sadly forgot to grab pics of those). The zucchini was awesome—served with a charred lemon and a really tasty marinara that brought everything together. For my entrée, I ordered the Chicken Marsala (normally paired with mashed potatoes) but subbed in the creamy risotto instead. The plate came out piping hot with three pieces of chicken, and the Marsala sauce was the perfect consistency with spot-on flavor. If I had one critique, it’d be that it could’ve used more mushrooms—next time I’ll definitely ask for double mushrooms. The risotto was super creamy and also cooked perfectly, with great flavor… but heads up: it does have crushed red pepper, and a couple bites that had the peppers in them were pretty spicy for me. Still delicious. My brother ordered the steak with long-stem broccoli and mashed potatoes. The sides were great, and the steak was cooked to a perfect medium, but it unfortunately came out ice cold and under-seasoned, so it tasted bland. Since I’m a chef, I mentioned it to our server purely as feedback—no complaints, no trying to get anything for free—just letting them know. Ben (the manager on duty) came out immediately, was genuinely apologetic, and offered to remake it without hesitation. My brother declined because he was fine eating it, but Ben still checked in and handled the situation exactly the way you’d hope a manager would. I can’t remember our server’s name (it started with an M), but she was excellent—always on top of refills, quick to clear plates, and she even brought to-go bags without us having to ask (which you hardly see anymore). The restaurant was really busy around 6 PM and parking was tough, but once inside, the place is beautiful—warm, lively, and upscale without feeling stuffy. The location next to the passenger train station is a cool touch too. Overall: great food, huge portions, beautiful atmosphere, and outstanding service/management. Minus the one cold steak, everything was on point, and I’ll absolutely be back.

Bay House Oyster Bar & Restaurant - Erie

Rating: 4.6 /5
Lalena Corwin After sending my husband several options for dinner prior to a night at the theater, he picked this restaurant and boy did he get it right. This restaurant did not miss a beat. From the amazing cocktails to the decadent desserts, we could not find one flaw. The seasonal shrimp potstickers were divine. The grilled peaches burrata was off the hook and the lobster risotto to die for. The berry burst cake was light and refreshing and the cookies and cream crème brulee was one of the best weve ever had. If youre a coffee drinker, dont miss their Americano coffee to end your meal. However, the best part was we only ordered the potstickers, our first round of drinks and dessert. Everything else, we turned over to our server, Mica. We gave her some general preferences but then told her to surprise us... and boy did she. All of her recommendations were spot on and delicious. Tyler, one of the managers, came over to see how our meal was and we told him to fire Mica and the kitchen staff immediately... tongue in cheek. Thankfully, he understood the assignment and knew we were pulling his leg. One of the best meals weve had in a long time and we are foodies. We will definitely be back, highly recommend!

Johnnys Seafood Shack - WM Crossing - Greensburg

Daniel Behrens I stopped for lunch at Johnny’s on the way home from checking out a car in Greensburg. The dining room was clean and peaceful and the staff were friendly without being obtrusive. Fish sandwiches and fries came out piping hot and perfectly cooked. I hope to visit again the next time I’m in the area!
