Historic Summit Inn Resort - (Near Farmington, PA)

5 /5 DSG: Stayed here passing thru WV on the way to Fallingwaters. Everything about this place was really neat. Lots of history. The restaurant was extremely good with great staff and great food. We stayed in the front and had a great view. There is road noise, so, if you want quiet you should opt for a room in the rear. The lobby was quaint with comfortable chairs and couches and a nice fire.

5 /5 Scott Rocca: First time checking out the Historic Summit Inn and I was blown away. The history, the views, and the charm of this place are something special. What really stood out was the staff. Every single person we encountered was genuinely kind, helpful, and made the experience even better. The rooms were clean and full of character. The service was top notch. The location could not be more beautiful. And obviously the views of the horizon are breathtaking. The only thing to note is that it is not dog friendly, so my small companion had to sit this one out. Because of that, it ends up being more of a one-night getaway for me. If pups were allowed, I’d be able to stay even longer. Already planning to come back soon and I am excited to bring the boys for a golf trip. One hundred percent worth checking out if you have never been.

5 /5 Morgan Barkefelt: My husband and I got married nearby, and booked the bridal suite. It was much bigger than expected, but that’s no problem lol. I think this would be great for a bridal party, or a bachelor/ bachelorette party also! The service was wonderful. Jim at the front desk on night shift let me come down and get hot tea through the night (I lost my voice loudly singing at my reception lol). He was very kind, and conversational. Annie from Mae’s Dining Room took care of us the following morning. She was very kind to us as well, and gave exceptional service. The food was also great portions, and tasty. I will be back and asking for her when we return home for a visit.

3 /5 NeoGeoHa: First time visitor. We stayed here for 3 nights for a long weekend getaway. Hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Parking was easy and plentiful. The common areas of the hotel present very well in the pictures that are a fairly accurate representation of what they actually are. Had a slight Overlook Hotel from The Shining vibe, which I thought was cool. We ate the the hotel restaurant one evening. It was very nice with white tablecloths, quaint fireplace, good food, and friendly staff. The bar/casual area was also enjoyable. One evening we sat by the main fireplace and read for a while. Be aware, the hotel is located right next to a major 4 lane road that is LOUD. All day semi-trucks, big pick-ups, and Harleys are ripping up and down the mountain making a lot of noise. All those pictures of white rocking chairs, patios overlooking the valley are accurate, but when youre sitting there, be prepared to experience a lot of ceaseless road noise. If you are looking for a quiet getaway with amazing views, this is NOT your destination. Aside from the noise outside, the room was the biggest disappointment. In fact we almost cut our trip short and left early because if it. First off the hotel has no elevator, so if you have any trouble with stairs you better request a lobby-level room. We were on the second floor and it was more like 3 flights of stairs to get to our room’s hallway. The hallways were dark and in need of fresh paint (not a multitude of off-color touch-ups) and some new ceiling tiles. The room had a cheap janky keyed knob that seemed if you turned it hard enough when locked, it would probably give way. The room was large, but the AC/Heater was loud and either ran constantly or if in eco mode kicked on/off every 30 seconds. The TV was small, some of basic cable channels we not in HD, and there was no way to use any sort of streaming service or stream to the tv, which is just inexcusable in 2025. The bathroom had no where to set anything on aside from one tiny shelf below the mirror or on top of the toilet tank. I’m 6’ tall and the shower head that produced a pitiful flow of water was below my eye level, which was less than ideal. Also there is 1 ice machine, back down on the lobby level. I know this place is over 100 years old, but we have stayed in older inns and hotels up and down the East coast and the rooms didn’t feel this old, or neglected. As I said, we almost left because of our room, but ended up staying as the weather was very nice, we spent a lot of time off site sightseeing, so about all we did in our room was sleep and shower. They can’t do anything about the road as it wasn’t the like this when they built the hotel, I get it. But the condition of our room was inexcusable, and makes this a place to pass if you expect a nice room with reasonable accommodations/amenities when you stay at a hotel.

4 /5 F L: We loved our stay here. It was convenient for visit to Fallingwater and we chose it because it looked interesting and full of character. We were not disappointed! Loved the verandah, beautiful views and the spacious lobby with its huge stone fireplace and the original fittings and furniture. It also had a nice bar. The indoor and outdoor pools were spotless and a very good size. The bedrooms were in need of redecoration although they were spacious and the furniture was good quality. My only real gripe was the food in the restaurant- very expensive and not good at all (bland mushy pasta). We had dinner in Union Town on the second night. I would definitely stay here again, because it’s so much nicer than the usual bland hotel chains- but I would give the restaurant a swerve.
