DiMarco Bros. Deli - Meadville

Rating: 4.9 /5
Christin Smith Stepped in to pickup a carry out order and it smelled delicious! The taste of the food matched the smell of the deli, already excited to return to try something else. Homemade soups rotate daily. Weekly specials posted on Facebook. Wide variety of homemade salads, meats, and cheeses in the deli case. Specialty food items and dessert choices. Chicken Silly sandwich was large and delicious, enough for 2 people. Mediterranean salad was good, more iceberg lettuce than mix of greens but the marinated olives made up for that in flavor.

Portia Melita I moved to the neighborhood from Brooklyn recently. One day while walking around, I passed this unassuming place. The only indication that it was open was a chair outside with a bouquet of flowers to pin down a paper menu to the chair. The menu looked divine. A few days later I walked past, showing my partner that the place almost seemed closed from the outside but was very cute inside. Someone who worked there came out as we were looking and was very kind, asking us if we had reservations yet. We said no but booked immediately. The first time I visited, I had the sourdough, Marinated Mussels (hakurei turnips, miso, chili oil), Carrot (crab, brown butter), Shrimp (peaches, coppa, toasted marcona almonds), and Gnudi (corn& basil). It was an entirely no-skips meal. The mussels came cold, out of their shell, and the sauce was incredible. The “carrot” was more like a crab cake with coconut, brown butter, and an unidentifiable but delightful citrus. A perfect balance of rich & light. The gnudi seemed simple, but the lightly spicy sauce really pulled all the ingredients together. Finally, the shrimp with peaches really knocked my socks off. Lots of places will make “seasonal” menus but not put the effort into making sure that produce is top notch. The peaches would’ve been delicious on their own, but with the rest of the dish, they really shined. The second time I went (just a few weeks later) I got the Chicory Salad (anchovy, buttermilk, comte), the Steelhead Trout (sungold tomato, perilla), and a tuna crudo special. I also re-ordered the bread, the carrot with crab, and the gnudi. Everything was just as good as last time, and the new additions were truly worth trying. Something as simple as a chicory salad can be so hit or miss - but WOW! For dessert we had the cherry brown butter tart with crème fraiche. No complaints at all here. Now I’ve rambled on plenty about the delicious food, which I will be back for very soon, but I truly haven’t ever been to a place with better service. The workers are extremely attentive and kind. I felt like I’ve known everyone there for a long time. Thank you, Illata, for being such a wonderful neighborhood spot.

A Light in the Attic - West Reading

Julie Reyes A beautiful hidden gem tucked away in West Reading! We came here to celebrate our 3rd anniversary, and everything from start to finish was simply wonderful. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a cozy, library-inspired setting, books, warmth, and charm everywhere! Waiting for us at our table was a sweet little card that said “Happy Anniversary”, which was such a thoughtful touch. Our waitress was incredibly attentive, and the service couldn’t have been better. Now… the food. Oh. My. God. Absolutely divine! The kind of meal that makes you go quiet just so you can savor every bite. The drinks were just as amazing, and they even surprised us with complimentary champagne to toast our anniversary (so delicious!). The only small downside is that the tables are a bit close together, but honestly, that’s a minor detail compared to how phenomenal everything else was.

The Grouses Nest - Altoona

Alex Flowers I wish I could add a sound clip instead of a picture. Its so unbelievably loud in here that I can hardly even hear the waitress when she comes to my table. If I wanted hardcore metal at 400 decibels Id go to a concert, not the hotel restaurant. Its really unfortunate, because the food was delicious, the drinks were incredible, and then theres the waitress who was probably the best Ive ever had! ...but the atmosphere is just terrible.

jake purnell Spent years traveling all around the US and Australia by bike. Recently moved back to PA. Stopped in here to warm up and grab some coffee on my way through (mid- late November on an 4 hour ride) Awesome older building smelled exactly like my grandmas house. Cute decorations, kind server, coffee warmed me up enough to get the hour or two home. This is to the roots PA hometown diner. Type of spots I moved back home for

Sly Fox Brewing Company - Pottstown

H The food was amazing. Although fried wings are better, their buffalo sauce is the best buffalo sauce I have had. The pizzas are light and tasty. Their Carolina bbq sauce is also very good. They have indoor and outdoor space and a bug beer list. Definitely a must try!!
