Bavarian Brauhaus - (Near Bryan, TX)

5 /5 M G: Schnitzel is apparently their specialty. With a full menu page dedicated to schnitzels, they have many different style options, each with pork, chicken, or veal. Their hot (warm) German potato salad was also very good and nothing like American potato salad. Dont expect a fast meal, at least during the summer off-season. I would expect more waitstaff and faster service when Texas A&M is in session. Either way, I strongly recommend the food. And of course, dont forget the on-draft beer selection.

1 /5 Carpenter Eric Gail: Lots of standing waiting to be seated. Lots of sitting with closed menus, no drinks, etc. These are recurring complaints that can be overlooked with consistent food. However, tonight was the 3rd time we went for the fish n chips and were told they didnt have them. First time, they ran out. 2nd time they were "switching vendors" for the beer batter (WHAT? THE BATTER ISNT MADE IN-HOUSE???). Now, we got some bizarre "First Friday" menu story. Apparently, they implemented such a thing to avoid--and I quote the server--the "chaos." So, taking what is a clear draw and huge product off the menu on the busiest night of the month is the savvy decision? I used to play "restaurant" when I would spend the night at my grandmas... Applying the "3 strikes out" rule leaves few solid options in Downtown Bryan.

5 /5 Woodrow Wilson II: The German food und bier is amazing. I have gone here years ago and still the best German restaurant. I had the Jägerschnitzel with the mushroom gravy and an amazing bier. The Hofbrau Original Bier is the best and one heckuva thirst quencher on a heiß (hot) Texan day!

5 /5 Daniel G: This place is great! The ambiance is perfect. The food came out surprisingly fast, and the schnitzel was so good. I returned for another round. And WOW! It was even better than the last time. This time I asked my server, Morgan, for input. I totally should have done that before. She was spot on! This place is an absolute golden find. I only wish I lived closer so that I could come here more often. Without a doubt, I will return EVERY time Im in town.

The meal started with an amazing leek soup that was rich, creamy, and full of flavor—truly a perfect starter. If I could describe it poetically, it felt like a warm hug! Next up was the Bavarian sampler, which gave us a delightful variety of traditional German dishes, each one more delicious than the last. The schnitzel was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, making it a standout on the menu. Lastly, the bread pudding was to die for! It was so wonderfully textured and sweet that I dream of it even a week later. The restaurant has a cozy and authentic Bavarian atmosphere that adds to the overall charm. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed for an enjoyable meal. If youre in the area and craving some authentic German cuisine, Bavarian Brauhaus is a must-visit! Next time I come out to visit my friend, I’m coming straight back!
