Catfish King of Atlanta - (Near Atlanta, TX)

4 /5 Jimmy Purdon: The location was very clean and appeared to be recently renovated in areas of the restaurant. The food was decent but not the best Ive had, I guess I was spoiled to the original David Beards Catfish King on 155. The onion were awesome but everything else was average. We got the Cajun filets and nothing was Cajun about them. When you say cajun Im expecting some spice and a little bit of heat, but it failed to deliver on that. The servers were friendly and helpful but the food was very slow coming out, took 30 minutes to get our food.

1 /5 Doug Bates: There was a time since late 80s early 90s, even early 2000s Catfish King was the restaurant everyone wanted to go to. David Beards Catfish King the name and the quality of food is something that the Atlanta, Texas location strived towards. Ive been into this location in the last few days and I can say Im not happy with the changes this location has made. The entry which use to be welcoming and someone they actually greeted you and was actually happy youd come there and spend your time & money there. Its essentially a Catfish Cafeteria, very cold atmosphere, tiny drinks, and orders mixed up. There was no manager on duty, employees sitting around behind the manager whom I assume was the one cooking as well. The manager is just that someone who is suppose to make sure the staff is doing their jobs, ensuring the customers are happy and not cooking while the employees are sitting around. A far cry from what Catfish King use to be. Its not part of David Beards network, and even though the food is decent, all other issues take away from it. Make the entry inviting, not cold lifeless, and actually teach your staff customer service, friendly atmosphere, some music to let people know someone is actually alive in the building. Management issue needs to be addressed and replace those cups with something bigger than a small coffee cup. Restore faith in your location and the local population and tourists. Best review I can give

2 /5 LT Leinad: Who serves frozen butterfly shrimp for premium prices, fish is good.. Service is always atrocious. I don’t know if she’s the owner, but the lady at the register is always SO RUDE. We used to love coming here.. but honestly it’s just not like it used to be. I honestly hoped after the remodel and the extending hours that it would take a turn, but obviously they have learned nothing. Good luck.

1 /5 Kristen Johnston: I didn’t think it was that wonderful with previous owners, but the new owners have made it 10x worse. Cajun fish was small and had no flavor whatsoever. French fries were just frozen with no salt or seasoning. Beans tasted like they were from a can with no seasoning at all. Chicken fried chicken used to be hand breaded and is now just a frozen patty. Cole slaw was meh. We won’t be back anytime soon.
